How about letting us know what's wrong with the gearbox? :?

You mean it just gets stuck in 3rd gear with the Neutral flashing? Or does it actually get stuck in Neutral and the car won't move? :?

I had problems with mine when changing from 1st to 2nd at high RPM, I just change the oil, and its all good again, mine is a manual, should do the same with an auto, auto fluid might be burnt.

i suggest u to jsut get it reconditioned honestly
i did mine a while back cost me about 3k for a excellent job for peace of mind
rebuilt from ground up
if urs is not broken yet, the transmission place can just crack it open and look for which part is worn and u wont have to pay as much as mine coz mine broke and gears flew everywhere blasting everything away.
and if u get a 2nd hand one...since its getting abit old, i dont think it would be reliable and they're not cheap, at least 1.5k for good one with low kms...
jsut becoz they say its low km...they cant prove it btw...
if u want to get it reconditioned in syd, i'll let u know where i did mine.
past ride : FTO gpx with lots of bling bling

Your auto box is 99% likely to be FUBAR. Get rid of the auto and put a manual box in there.

Cheaper. Better. Faster.

I took one lesson and after that basically just drove around on my own.

What really made me confident though, my friend came over and took me to a hill. He told me to use only the clutch and accelerator to move the car back and forth without using the brake. We did it for like 30 mins and I got the hang of it, and I was so confident after that, since I got the hang of the friction point and from just doing that, I learnt so much.. since the main thing about manual is getting the hang of the friction point.
So do that, just go on a slope, and just try balance the car, keep it still by just using your clutch and accelerator, then just move like 10 cm forward, and then 10 cm back without using your brake. you can do it in like 20 mins and u'll feel so much more confident.

really a lot easier to learn m,anual thank think! and much more fun

should only take about an hour or so to get the feel of things, once you have that then work on the timing, when to shift.

I got use to the tip pretty quick, now driving full auto mode isn't the same you don't get the same kind accelaration compared to when you're in semi mode.

Wait .. going off topic so i'll stop.
