Exhaust Problems?
My exhaust warning light on my dash lights up when I start my car yet everything seems okay - car runs fine, totally normal. Anyone know what might be the problem? The funny thing is that I've noticed it only lights up when the weather is VERY warm, which in Sydney at the moment, it is. I've changed my engine coolant cause I thought it might be a cooling problem, not to mention I've got a vented bonnet so I figured this would actually assist in cooling but after reading the owners handbook, the light says that its an exhaust problem. Also, if there is a problem, is the light supposed to remain on or does it just light up at the beginning to let you know theres a problem before turning itself off? Anyone shed any light on the problem???

The exhaust temp sensor sits at the begining of the cat.. Further towards the engine is the Lambda sensor. If your car is running ok then only check your temp sensor.
When you take out the sensor, look at the tip. There should be 2 thin steel pieces of wire joined together in a V shape. This may have come loose.
