Danny's And Jeff's 6A13 turbo Conversions

So you want a hairdryer on your FTO? Or do you already have a hairdryer in it? This is the section for it. All other big power projects & forced induction goes here too.

Hi all,
Just an update on my car.
Still having problems with heat melting my gearbox selector cables. Had Paul at Crossley have a look and he insisted that he could heat sheild them for me. So after waiting for a new set of cables, he installed them, and heat shielded them. After 1/2 an hour on the dyno, guess what?. Yes they had melted. So back to drawing board.
Anyway for some good news.
With a better tune, and getting rid of the lean spots, my baby is now making
306kw atw.
Yep, over the magic 400hp figure.
When I get time I`ll post the dyno chart.

As for above post from Danny.
He has organised for PWR to make an aluminimum radiator for us. I have organised a spare radiator for them to copy and measure, so hopefully in a couple of weeks it should be available.
Cost was roughly $800.
I`ll let you know how it is going.

looking good Jeff

Good to see that motor putting out some nice power figures.

Any chance of seeing a few more detailed photos under the bonnet, I am curious to see where they mounted the waste gate and get a closer look at the inlet and exhaust manifolds they made. See if there is any ideas there i can use.

Looks like it is running good, did you get it back for christmas ? and did they say when your radiator will be ready. I am hoping mine will arrive friday but might get held up by the holidays.

Hi Danny,
I`ll try to get some more photos up during xmas break.
As for my radiator, they said 10th jan. My car is up and running, and finally I can change gears easily. The only problem is now overheating. I think it is more than the radiator though.
The other day I drove it sedately for 2 kms parked for 1/2 hour then drove home only to have it boil. Interestingly the bottom rad hose was cool with the top one red hot. So I think my thermostat has sh*t itself, or my water pump.
If anyone has any ideas on how to discriminate between the two, without pulling the thing apart, I would be pleased to know.
Merry Xmas to all.

Thermostat is easy enough to test if you pull it out. Just chuck it in a pan of boiling water & see if it opens. If not, its shot

Thanks Ben, but not easy to pull out.
You forget that I have a huge hairdryer blocking the way.
I was hoping to diagnose the problem without having to pull it out.

Just an update.
2 days before the Qld cruise, a D#$K head backed into me in a carpark. Not much damage but managed to put a hole into my intercooler with his towbar.
Glad the weather has cooled down, no longer overheating. Waiting for PWR to fix the design fault with the new aluminimum radiator Danny and I have been working on. Now it has cooled, and when I get a new intercooler will have to go to willowbank and try for the new 1/4 mile record.

Looks like you guys are beating me on the power stakes so Im going to convert it to single turbo over the next coming weeks. Anything I need to watchout for other then melting cables.

Just in the middle of fitting the Galant gearbox, not too many issues once I found the correct FTO driveshafts to fit, will be finishing the gearbox this weekend.

Just fitted the radiator last weekend.
Fitted great. They have fixed the rounded section on the bottom. Seems to be working well, although have not been to the track.
Also fitted my new PWR intercooler. I`m not sure whether it was loss of boost from a leak in my old intercooler, or the new PWR one, but it seems to have more grunt.
I`ll have to try to make it to Willowbank soon, for a 1/4 mile.
Thanks Danny.
