My engine has a very annoying whine noise. Related to engine speed. Whurrring. Sounds like a bearing, coming from around the pulleys.
When I remove the belt that goes around the tensioner pulley, a/c and p/s pump it goes away. Put on - comes back. I thought it was the tensioner pulley (rusty looking one at the bottom), so i ordered it from japan.... 3 weeks and $150 later i get it and fit - doesnt fix !!!!!!!
Has anyone heard of anything like this????????
I spent all weekend trying to determine what it is but i still dont know.
I took it to a mechanic and he totally misdiagnosed and lightened my wallet $100 for having a look. BTW - the belts are new.
could be a bearing in one of the pumps... are you able to tell which one it is? this is just a guess. check with the melbourne guys about a good mechanic to goto that maybe able to help you out.
Hey,
i think i had the same noise problem.. (a really loud screeching noise which just got louder as i reved. but when revved to about 6k revs in nutural and then did that a couple times, it went away while the car was one.) if this is the prob then it'll be your fan belt... what one of my friends did was some thing purely un-professional..
He got a bar of soap that you'd find in your bathroom, got me to turn the car on, held the bar of soap onto the fan belt untill the bar got till about 1/2 way, then i found its never done that sound again...
BTW if your gona try this than i suggest minding your hands...
If you dont wanna get your hands near it, than get some castrol oil or something like that and just pour it on while the engines running...
you spray the lanotac on to the bearings will work on power steering or the air con
but you should be able to tell if it is the air con by getting some one to switch the aircon on and off and see if the noise changes, if no change then it aint the air con
