FTO Rim sizes

Hi guys,
Firstly I apologise for the repost....im sure this has been covered a few times but i cannot find the posts on rim sizes anywhere (the search fucntion either isnt working or is REALLY poor).

Basically I would just like to know what rim sizes those on 17"s have. Like dimensions/star pattern etc etc and what WILL fit on an FTO before rubbing/lowing suspension needs to take place. i do not plan to lower the car but would like 17" to go on. Any feedback on what you guys are riding on would be great.

PCD is 5x114.3, for 17" you can either go for 17x7 or 17x7.5, you might have problem with 17x8, but that depends on which offset you pick.

Offset is from 35+ to 45+

Tyres you can use from 205/45/R17 to 225/45/R17, once again you can go higher profiles or wider tyres but it might rub depends on the offset of your wheels

BTW which seach button did you use, the one on the left of the screen or the on the top??

Yeah the search up the top is fine...i was trying the one on the left.....anyway back to tires...

Does anyone think if I go a 17" with 45 tyre it will look like a 4WD? Would it be too high and would I notice a lose in handling performance? Also would a 40 or 45 profile be better for me considering I'm not planning on lowing the car?

Noise is really depend on the thread pattern & the compound they use on the tyres.

Since you not going to lower the car, I suggest either 45 or 50 profiles as it will be more comfortable then the 40. But like i said, you have to match it with your offset.

The correct offset for the fto is +38 not 35 or 45 (although others will fit) and the centre bore is 67.1 mm

Yes,but it's not 35 to 45....its 38! Not 37,not 39 not 38 ish but 38. Other sizes will physically fit but they will be incorrect

I don't see the problem of giving options for members when they are looking rims, & the rims he or she want might not have exact 38+ offset.

Is like saying the FTO rims is 16" so therefore you have to get 16"

although this is slightly un-related...and at risk of getting caught up in the Ashes series..can someone explain to me exactly what the offset is all about and tell me what other stuff is important...regardless of the exact number

Offset is fairly important as if incorrect it increases bump steer and tramling as the steering isn't turning on the same axis anymore....So i thought it would be best to make owners aware rather than them wondering why the car has become 'skitty' in a straight line and behaves differently cornering.Also,if you go +45 Your rims will be nearer the suspension so you won't be able to go so wide as you may like,or your wheels will sit further in the arches and they'll look odd. I'm actually running +45 with 6mm spacers bringing it to +39.

It'll be close... anyone thinking of going 17 or 18" for gods sake get your car lowered! Check out how Mell's looked when she stuck 18's on. Crazy 4WD action!

7.5" would be ideal, I know there are members here who got 18x8, but unless the guy who doing the package for you really know what his doing, if not then you going to get some rub with anything wider then 7.5â€
