the auto gearbox cant handle all the power?

well i got a gpx auto, i rarely use the tip! im more of a laid back lazy person lol, havnt really had any regrets, but it pisses me off to drive around in a FOUR SPEED car... especially when im up against sh*t box 6 speed commowhores lol
if you hadn't noticed, a lot of professional drag racers use auto transmissions in their cars so in a way, auto is better for turbo because it can hold some level of boost during gear shifts...

but yes, don't expect the tiptronic to last long when abused with so much extra power... EXC will vouch for this!! ;)

manual v auto

miss a cog at 8000rpm with 16 PSI boost and you got more to worry about than your box, think thats an important factor for all big HP setups.

Not sure how true this is but I've been told in a straight line, in the newer models, an auto Supra TT is quicker than a manual equivalent by a fraction.

are you absolutely sure it was TT Supra?? 8O

i have raced against atmo manual Supras before and that in itself was a real challenge already, let alone a TT model...!!

Well, that's what my Japanese workshop mechanic told me. I ain't going to refute him because he certainly has a lot more background knowledge than me!

well considering the Supra TT has MORE THAN TWICE the amount of torque (with only 350kgs extra) and something like 85kw more, with rear wheel drive and a relatively tall first gear (in auto), i find it pretty hard to believe how a TT Supra can only come close to the FTO in accelleration... maybe the Supra driver's reaction was slow or the turbos/engine's are farked??
