ENGINE PROBLEMS
hey guys,
looking for a bit of mechanical guidance
so the other day my car shut off while i was driving, and wouldn't start.
i didn't hear any knocking sounds or bangs.
I am slightly concerned it may be a mechanical issue? if the engine blew, would i hear a knocking or something similar when i try to crank it?
it try's to crank and all most gets there but doesn't turn over.
I haven't had the time to check error codes yet, as i have exams.
Id say its a electrical issue, will look further into that after exams, but just wanting to know if there is a dead give a way of internal issues that i could look for?
Cheers

Re: ENGINE PROBLEMS
First thing to do is check codes. If no codes, check if you're getting fuel and spark.

Re: ENGINE PROBLEMS
Pull out your ignition leads, see if there is a spark, if no spark then it's ignition related. Could possibly be an issue with your fuel lines/fuel pump?

Re: ENGINE PROBLEMS
Checked there is no spark.
Also sprayed carry cleaner in intake, so i defiantly know that its not fuel related.
could it be the ignition failure sensor?

Re: ENGINE PROBLEMS
Possibly. Did you end up pulling the error codes?

Re: ENGINE PROBLEMS
Do you have an immobiliser?
If engine shuts you off while driving, could be due to it.
I had something similiar.
Something about the relay being worn, and de-magnetised, and cut the engine off, when running.
