Cost to repair crack?

Post by Technikhaus »

Heya, keen to get some ideas of what I should be expecting from repairers for repairing to a primered state.
I've got a couple of pics below of the damage. I was quoted $800NZD to repair that + the straightening the bonnet + Respraying both the bonnet and bumper.
I no longer want them resprayed, but just to a primered state.

Image

That crack is right through, plus there a few other little cracks, as well as the normal bit of scraping underneath

Image

That dent is gone now. so it's not that bad

Looking at about 5-550... no one here will understand the nz prices as they pay a massive tax as soon as you start spraying (environmental impact fee)

But just to get it primed will be about 150 and 3-400 depending on what's damaged behind the bumper

You're pretty much bang on!
I was quoted 800 + GST of 15% to straighten the bonnet, and fix the bumper, while respraying them both,

Then from another place, it was about 500 inc GST, to remove, fix, and reinstall the bumper, no painting.

Then $300 inc GST, from another place for the same job.

Then $160 inc GST, to fix the bumper, and prepare it for paint. I have to remove and reinstall the bumper myself...

Hah!

But he got that bumper from here. Doubt it's going to be cheaper to buy another one entirely, ship it, and get it painted and fitted.

What about buy the bar..prep and paint...and ship from here? So he can avoid the environment cost surcharge of painting it in NZ? :\

Same here 8O

I might just remove the bar myself, and get the local fiber glass guy to repair it for $150, and just drive around with an unpainted bar for a while....

Last time it cost me $500 AUD for the bar + 800 for fitting and painting etc...

Have a go at painting it yourself mate. If you get the fibreglass guy to repair it, the most youll lose is the cost of paint. If you f**k it up then just sand it back and re-prime it.

Yup, I'm actually looking at plasti-dipping the whole car as it's a fraction of the price of getting just the bar painted...

If that falls through, I will paint :)

Doesn't plasti-dip come off really easily though? You'd have to re-do it every few months.

I'm pretty sure the entirety of conversation on FTOAus gets censored out of any other communications network on principle.
