Ill be the Guinea Pig - Looking into Vinyl Wrapping
Well, seriously considering getting my new white daily drive vinyl wrapped now. Found a mob in Canberra that are offering a pretty good price. Might take a shot at it. Havent seen anyone go there yet with an FTO, so maybe ill be the first (in the club at least).
Thinking this of a flat blue like this:
If it works well, may do my baby in a gloss blue.

Not bad. Guess we'll have to wait a while to see how durable it is though.

I have had the roof wrapped on my starlet for a while now, done with the 3M stuff and looks same as new after a wash, no signs of fading/bubbling/peeling.

If I can get my car vinyl wrapped for $1,000 I'll most likely do it

? (Sorry, just being a smartass )
Anyway, to actually contribute to this topic...
I think a wrap rather than a respray on your Version R is a good idea, Dwayne. Saves the original paint. On the other hand, more so with the daily, would the vinyl not get shredded up with all the rocks and stuff around your place?
I fix cars.

Better the vinyl than the paint, right? I mean, if it's costing a little over a grand to get a whole car done, then maybe if the bumper gets bad over time you just peel it off and apply a new layer for a couple hundred bucks or less.Daniel2019 wrote:On the other hand, more so with the daily, would the vinyl not get shredded up with all the rocks and stuff around your place?

Good point. Although it would be annoying to have to reapply every few months/annually.bjk wrote:Better the vinyl than the paint, right? I guess it depends how strong the vinyl is.

I don't really know much about that.
Wouldnt really consider myself a sweat connoisseur..
Anyway lets get back on topic. Too much 2:30am gibberish from me lately

From what im reading the wrap holds up to the stones better than paint.

OK, actual quote came in at $1690 for the whole car. Actually, pretty happy with that, so think I may go ahead with it.

I paid 1k cash in hand while doing the insurance repairs for the dodgy paint job. 1.7k for the whole car properly wrapped is an awesome price in that comparison.dstocks wrote:OK, actual quote came in at $1690 for the whole car. Actually, pretty happy with that, so think I may go ahead with it.
