FTO info n mayb purchase...

well i know that some 1 already posted this but i need more info.
well im new with mitsubishiÂ´s FTO EVO etc...
1st i would like specs on the car Power out put all that stuff that should be knowen when buying a car.
N whats mivec??? is like V-tech ????
n now im thinkin of buyin a car and it might be a FTO, the max of the max i can spend is 25GÂ´s but the lower tha better.
but theres a problem on carsales n drive i can only find the semi-auto transmision i wouldnÂ´t mind it just that manual is better(more fun)is it hard to find manual ??? n what version is better GP GPX GR. ( i think im right) like which 1 has more extras?

what r the most common problems with tha FTO??

please anser the QÂ´s i would be gratefull.

Yep MIVEC is like V TEC
i'd go for a GPX manual but then i,m biased
Power output is 197 BHP, dunno what that is in OZ

There are many fto specification websites around, don't be lazy

A stock fto would probably do around 7.5 to 0-100km/h. and run mid 15 seconds on the quarter mile.

Now, models, if the car is pre mid 97, The best is the GPX, which is the top of the line, post 97 Mitsubishi made two a GPX and GPvR, the GPvR being slightly sportier with less weight, HID, so on...

Manual fto's are a bit rarer then tiptronics, for a decent 95 model you can expect to pay around 16-18, if you want newer then it will be much more expensive, but with a 25k budget it should be manageble.

Now if you really to be very rare, try finding a yellow manual, with a sunroof... hahaha...

I suggest that you be very patient when searching for an fto, do a search

there are many many threads about buying an fto and some problems ppl have already had.

You have to understand that FTO's aren't extremely fast, but they corner very well, and they are quite rare, and not many ppl know about what they are, even though this is picking up. It took my about 4 months to find my baby, and i could of got any car under 30k, yet i got an fto, because I fell in love with it... (or atleast until I have money to buy a newish EVO)

Maintanance is fairly the same as other cars, just expect to pay for better oil etc, and at 100k you need to do a major service which can cost upto 1.5k

Mivec, is basically the engine has two different CAM profiles. So one would be between 0-5500rpm, and the second CAM profile would kick in from 5500 to 8k.

Major problems are like with any 10yr old car. It all depends on how previous owners have treated the car, some common problem that can occur, don't get put off by these, these are common with every car.

I still cant believe how much u guys pay for your FTO's... all the FTO's ive seen are NZ10 grand atm and i bought mine for NZ$9000... a white 95 gpx... had been damaged but had been repaired so you couldnt tell... theres no problems with it whatsoever... has done 120XXX ks though

yes, but the FTO was sold in NZ where as it wasn't in AUS, it had to be imported.

oh dealers dont pick them up there? you have to import them individually?

mine was imported in 2000 and i bought it in may 04, several owners later

NZ gets all the good jap full imported cus there less strict and cheaper to import to which reduces the resale value because there are more of them yada yada

we might pay mroe but they stay worth morel onger

if a fto cost that much i would of bought 2! one for my self one ofr hte misses!

that is impressive for a stock FTO

You should email a copy of your time slip to Richard batty so he can put it in the 1/4 mile league table as there are only 9 guys that have managed to get under 15sec and of these guys, 4 are turocharged and 2 are on NOS, and i know one of the other guys is from western australia and has a few mods. So sub 15 for a stock FTO is very unusual

I think it's more likely to be some unimpressive timing equipment

A stopwatch, a g-tech unit, or maybe a mate counting...

hmmm to email or not to email....

i was acctually rather suprised i went under 15, but look at my RT

anyway, everyone else in my car club is running 10's-12's so i wasnt really bothered with a 14... and yeah they all are TT VR4's
