Re: Not Another Intake Thread
I'm not trying to clamp the very end of the pipe (because that will be clamped to the airbox), I think Vectose was suggesting further along the stock pipe, where the rubber connection from the pod is sitting inside, and clamping that. Unless I'm wrong, but I think that's what was meant.

Yeah, that's what I meant, but earlier I did not see the photo of the pod in the intake pipe, the gap is a bit too large to clamp as Taz has stated.

So you think that will suffice? The stock air pipe doesn't have a lot of give naturally, but it feels tight even without the clamp.

Re: Not Another Intake Thread
So the stock intake pipe is being clamped to the stock airbox, and you've basically got a pod floating around inside the airbox itself?
Just wrap some gaffa tape around the end of the aftermarket pipe to make sure is fitting nice and snug and has no give at all. Need to make sure you cant move it so air doesnt get past.
But honestly, seems like the air has to do a fair bit of work to get into the pipe as its hitting the end of the aftermarket pod, slowing down and swirling around figuring out what to do then its sucked in by the pod. My suggestion is avoid this whole headache and choose one of the following:
a) (and the best option) go invest in a nice hi flow K&N panel filter - with this you will probably feel a difference over the current setup. Should only be around $90 and you can stick with the stock setup till then
b) invest in a CAI kit or make one yourself, its not hard to do to make one - but it is a bitch.
At the end of the day its your car and do what you want with it etc
just giving my 2 cents on a solution.

Lol, fair enough. Only reason I'm fuddling about with this is because I actually have the pod! I don't really want to spend money as it's not an essential upgrade by any means. Eventually, yes; right now, no.

Hence I started this thread in the Gibberish Corner and titled it how I did.

Little to no difference noticed.
just going to put the panel back on. Can you wash them with water, or do you need that special stuff??

Re: Not Another Intake Thread
Just give it a blow out with a compressor attachment if you have one, otherwise try a vacuum cleaner with a really thin head attachment.

If it's a paper filter then you can't wash it. You can only wash foam or cotton filters.
