Auto drops down a gear when going down a hill
Anyone elses do this?
Its really annoying.
When youre freeballing down a steep hill and then the car decides that you must be going slower because youre not excelerating and automatically drops to third.
The car jolts suddenly and the engine revs high.
Whats this all about and how do I stop it from happening?

it's supposed to do that...
if you don't want it to, tap the gears into tiptronic, then it'll only kick down a gear if the engine is about to labour. Just don't for get to change up gears or push it back to drive after

It shouldn't really do it harsh though.

Re: Auto drops down a gear when going down a hill
if it's harsh changing up through the gears under light acceleration then your auto probably needs a service

I'll have an FTO one day... i swear!

Re: Auto drops down a gear when going down a hill
The automatic transmission in the FTO is supposed to do that as a form of "engine braking". Pretty silly I know but if you don't like it, just use tiptronic mode to override it.

Just lightly touch your brake and it stops it.

Re: Auto drops down a gear when going down a hill
My car did this to me when I was roadtripping home from visiting Technikhaus...slowly cruising down a hill, and hello 3rd gear outta nowhere, wtf??
Glad to know after reading this thread that it was meant to do that, lol.
