Re: 6a13
Question is, is it really worth dropping out a 6A12 and putting in a non-turboed 6A13? All for a gain of what average 10kW?
Unless it's replacing a high k engine for a low k. In which case my question is mute

as well as being 500cc larger, so you can get more torque out of it, and being a larger displacement and mods will have a better effect. Honestly, for someone who blows a head gasket/waterlocks an engine etc and can pick up one of these cheap with a loom then hell - why not?

Having a higher cc doesn't mean crap sometimes, my MX6 has a 2.5L but that's a hunk of junk compared to my 2L FTO.Taz wrote:as well as being 500cc larger, so you can get more torque out of it, and being a larger displacement and mods will have a better effect. But hey if he has the engine to do the conversion good on him. I'd do it too if I had the money and the engine.

Yeah ya can't beat cubes.
It's a direct fit bar the rear turbo, need to either bash in the bulkhead or do it the classy way & make a new manifold. I prefer the classy way as there are a lot of brake lines near the bash in area that eventually get cooked.

Could a big single turbo make it easier to drop straight in?Bennoz wrote:Yeah ya can't beat cubes.

Re: 6a13
Being on your P's I doubt you will be allowed an engine conversion.
My suggestion would be start with a manual conversion.
Later on you can find a 6A13 SOHC and use your DOHC heads on it + get a piggyback computer to tune it.
If you will be rebuilding the engine, a cost effective way to strengthen it is to source stock 6A13TT con rods from someone who upgraded, and use 4G9X pistons to raise compression ratio. Then you can do other mods like cams, exhaust, intake etc, and considering the 2.5L capacity you should get good results from mods.
You'll never really be able to go past the 7,500 redline as the DOHC heads use hydraulic lifters, but either which way a 2.5L with a 7,500rpm redline should be a very quick little car.

Unless I'm mistaken. Ive never seen anything in P plater laws on the RTA website about it being illegal to drive a car with a different engine so yeah, its fine

I think (but could be mistaken) that any mods that need an engineers certificate to make legal is not allowed by P platers?Daniel2019 wrote:Makes no difference matespetz wrote:Being on your P's I doubt you will be allowed an engine conversion.. If the car is registered and not defectable, non turbo and under 200kw at the flywheel then its perfectly legal to drive, regardless of P plates or not

Hopefully someone in the know can clear this up
