Fuel/Spark Car won't start
Okay, I know this is a fairly obtuse question but any help would be appreciated,
Car died after 5 mins driving, wouldn't start again..... plenty of crank, battery/alternator newish. Doesn't fire at all.
RACQ came and checked the fuses and relays, sprayed some aerostart? in the intake and it fired and spluttered, so he speculated a fuel issue.
I've pulled off the fuel line and cranked the engine, it pumped out fuel.
Error codes pulled were-(before clearing codes)....... No errors are showing since clearing codes!
22 Crank angle sensor
23 Camshaft position sensor
24 Vehicle speed sensor
31 Detonation sensor
I've checked he alt belts etc they appear in good nick (no damage to C.A.S wires i think)
I also noticed some engine oil in the air intake pipe, is this normal?

Re: Fuel/Spark Car won't start
Have you got the car running again?
If you have and there are no codes showing it could just be that the ECU was a bit fed up with you ignoring the codes it had stored and decided to stop. My old Citroen did that.
If you've cleared the codes it will possibly run until they get logged a certain number of times before once again thinking, Feck this!
Oil get pulled into the air intake through the breather hose on the camshaft covers so thats normal.
The only other thing that springs to mind is fuel pressure. If the pump is pumping but there is insufficient pressure there wont be enough getting to the cylinders to fire it up.

Which in turn, could be a blocked fuel filter. Quite often a neglected item on FTOs due to its pain in the ass location.Storm wrote:The only other thing that springs to mind is fuel pressure. Yeah, well when you do dozens & dozens of them for people, you kinda develop a technique to doing it easily.Gholdwayne wrote:But at times you easily agree on takin on the job, contradicting that statementBennoz wrote: due to its pain in the ass location.

Car hasn't sparked since, good to know about the oil though.
Fuel filter replacement is on the cards then, at least to eliminate one possible problem I guess!

Re: Fuel/Spark Car won't start
One thing i forgot to mention was after clearing the error codes the TCL light flashed out --11 APS Circuit system.
Not having TCL I assumed it was irrelevant but further reading it can be in regards to the accelerator position sensor... is that the same as the TPS?
If the sensor was dead would it not start?

Why do you have a Traction Control light if you dont have TC? Are you sure you dont have it?demonjay wrote:One thing i forgot to mention was after clearing the error codes the TCL light flashed out --11 APS Circuit system.

Yes it is the same as the TPS. How you have described the problems you are having sounds to be more like a possible "igniter" (http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m3b0s9p5834)demonjay wrote:One thing i forgot to mention was after clearing the error codes the TCL light flashed out --11 APS Circuit system.

Otherwise the good old blocked fuel filter, can cause all sorts or running, idling starting problems
