What part is this?

Does anyone know what the following part is called?
Is it common that this item wears and causes a knocking sound in the rear?
This image is taken on the rear left. The swaybar/strut and droplinks are all just above or behind the camera

Dog bones lol. What a name.

Problem is Camskill has long and short dogbones. Which one? Should I try Pal meaty bites?
How hard is it to replace these dogbones and is there anything else I should replace while in the area?

haha hey evoman is the knocking constant? coz i have the same annoying problem... sounds like two metal pieces rubbing against each other. its so annoying and i dont know whats making it.

noise will be the actual bush inside you can just replace this part http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... b0s10p1075, try jacking car up at rear put lever under tyre und try lifting it you will see where the movement and noise is coming from

FTO-BOY - It's more of a clunk mate. When I go over a hard bump I get another knock/clunk separate from the suspension/tyre noise.

Thanks VIP. Yeah I believe this is the culprit as my mechanic told me, just I forgot to ask him what it was called and he is now away on holidays.

Is it hard to replace? And what is the story with the long and short dogbones?

ok thanks vipfto.. yeah i noticed theres a huge camber and toe difference to the point the the inside of my tires are worn badly. its a constant squeaking noise and stops when turn around a corner then back again on the straights and the noise is even worse when someone is sitting at the back.

helps to have a press to replace but can do with a hammer and socket you do need to remoce actual arm though and will be easier to just replace whole unit if doing it at home

as for names they are just that its all part of multi-link suspension the long ones are more of a stabiliser.

oh and make sure you get a wheel alignment after as it will need to be reset once replaced

Ok to dumb it down for retards like me. Is the short dogbone the item shown in the pic and the long dogbone situated somewhere else in the suspension setup?

If I buy the whole part rather than the bushes is it then easier to put in?

I bought it 2 months ago, and yet to fit it.

I've just replaced all these bushes. The longer dog bone is just a stabliser bar with 2 solid bushes.
The shorter dog bone in question has a pivoting bush on the end that bolts to the chassis - this is where the rear
toe adjustment is done by the eliptical bolt assembly you have pictured. Mine we're absolutely rooted.

I bought replacement bushes from Mitsubishi (well through their parts outlet which was Lander Nissan) near Eastern Creek for $28 each, as
they are common to dezen of Mitsubishi models such as Lancers & Mirages etc.
Then punched them out on my vice with a socket.... which was somewhat time consuming. Ended up taking 1 of them up to my mechanics
sop I could use his press. Part number is 4113A062

But the hardest part of all is fitting them back on the car. Trying to wedge them back into the chassis was a nightmare & required much
big screw driver & lump hammer action.

Hmm, this noise is really starting to piss me off so time to do something, however I want to clarify something.

What is at the bracket end? Is there any bush which is likely to need replacing there and if so what is the part number?

Nope, that bracket end bolts direct to the trailing arm. Metal to metal.
