tip tronic random gear change????

Post by curse »

hey all
I have recently got my self a 94 model auto with tip, and every time i go down a hill it jumps gears every now and then like from 4TH to 2nd. Is this normal?

and ive noticed it stretches gears out as well when im not accelerating much either from 2nd to thrid. but also on flat road as well as hills. Is this normal.

Lastly does anyone know where i could find some of the spring clips that go inside the sunroof cover slide.

first WTTC :D

as for issue reset ECU mate (disconnect battery)
the Invecs gearbox actually learns how the driver drives car and changes accordingly, after a few days it will learn how you drive and then react to your driving style

oh and post up some pics mate :D

Mate i have a similar problem to you
its does to me aswell and other changes
when i drive the automatic gearbox is on 4 then suddenly the car kicks back to 3rd gear and then lights up both N and D on the 3rd gear and does not change anymore when i stop. it just stays on 3rd unless i switch off the car for a bit and goes back to normal. but its been doing it everyday and its annoying.
Has anyone else had this problem?
how do i fix this?
Thanks

^^^^^^ Do what VIP just mentioned, then drive it

Absolutely that is the invecs system using engine breaking to slow you down, so your not rolling down the hill (eg more control)..

Hmm that reminds me of another thread we discussing earlier..... but we wont start that back up again lol

I agree with the ferrari eater, but as for the gearbox taking a while to shift, it could be your torque converter.

It sounds like your tip box is "flaring"... it only gets worse, have it checked.

check the transmission fluids and make sure they are topped up...otherwise just reset the ecu as suggested.

You will be also amazed at what a good fluid change does ;)

okay Bennoz

okay ive got the error code
the orange engine light is flashing once per second constantly
the N is flashing wieird, flash sequence
first is a one lights N for 2 seconds ( may be counting quick )
second is same
a 3 or 4 second stop or nothing in between
then 3 flashes after that is a sequence of 1 second interval then stops for a bit and does it all over again

what does this mean? Limp back, i mean leap mode

thanks guys

okay guyz
how do you get the exact error reading?
Ive been looking at other peepz error code
what do you need to buy to pull out error codes out of the FTO
ive tried the 1 pin and grounding but it only comes up as lights and going by Bennoz error code data sheet. But is there another way to do this a reader or something?

by the way i think you have described flashing? it sounds as its error code 23.......
output shaft speed sensor

limp mode is when there is prob and trans effectively goes into a safe mode.
The N light will flash and car will be stuck in third gear, it will make a decent thud when shifting from D-R-P

What vip says makes sense, if it is the output speed sensor get it replaced or at th every least cleaned.

2nd going down hill shows your tip ECU is working well, mine didn't do it until I soaked it then left it in the hot cupboard for a few days. Not actualy to be recommended

It also recognises my driving style in a few minutes, rather than days. If I start hooning it around it holds onto the gears for longer, as it should, but it keeps holding the gears, even when I drive into a town. It then takes five minutes or so to return to a semblance of normality.

Yeah speedo sensor is at the back of the box, you may have disturbed it pulling input / output sensors out & so on.
