Engine pulley's
Hey I was thinking about adding a third engine pulley on to the FTO and was just hoping somebody might know if it was possible, and if so, how difficult. Thanks in advance

Im not sure if i know exactly what your talking about but if its what i think it is then it would be possible. But it all depends on what you running off that pulley.
What is the application for?

Check my thread on super charging and ben's. I believe it is possible but way harder than turbo charging and definitly more expensive unless you got luckyJamie wrote:Its only hypothetical at the moment but thinking about mounting a supercharger.
After seeing the gains you achieved, it has really convinced me to go the forced induction route

Yeah I had a read of those threads and there was some good points raised. I was thinking along a bit different lines though.
I was thinking about mounting a centrifugal type s/c on a custom bracket from the chasis below the passenger side headlight. Thats why I was wondering if I could add another pulley to drive it instead of re-routing the existing belts.

Yeah man i totally believe its do-able. It would be the first super charged FTO in the world (that Iknow of anyway)Jamie wrote:Yeah I had a read of those threads and there was some good points raised. I was thinking along a bit different lines though.

Nah, Rob Furniss has one in the UK thats almost finished. Was a f*ck load of fabrication involved thou.
I came to the conclusion that the Vortech system that the Yanks sell as a kit for the Eclipse would have been the easiest install. Shame the Vortech blowers are 3 grand off the shelf.
This is Robs:

Holey F&*Ken sh*t, thats awesome.
I knew it was possible but as we both agreed ben in my thread on S/C. Just too much fabrication..... and that proves it.
However, i would be more than happy to help out anyone to do this project. As the end result would be very impressive

@ Simon- Thanks for the offer, any help I can get on this would be great.
On the next DIY day I will throw the car up on some stands and explain how I was thinking about doing it.
@ Bennoz- In the pictures it looks like the alternator has had a second pulley added. Could this be done to the 2 existing pulleys on the crank? I read in your thread that you were planning on welding another on then getting them rebalanced. Where would I go to get this done? Engineering workshop?
Just out of interest the s/c I was looking at is a powerdyne unit rated 6-8psi. It is belt driven internally therefore requires no oil or water feeds. Goes for just under $2500 aud.
If anybody knows of a second hand one that would be great

What about the supercharger they use on the Hyundai Tib ... Pretty sure that was a v6 and had a very limited engine bay ... I just can't remember if it was based on the Hyundai own design V6, or if it were based on the Sonata V6 which was the mitsubishi ...
Edit: Was designed on the 2.7 V6 Tib ... So yeah the Hyundai version, not the Mitsubishi ... And they have gone out of business...
