I put a high flow cat on recently (2 weeks ago) and am happy to say that yes it makes a difference  I put a magnaflow on mine.

of course it makes a big difference but thats only if you upgrade the rest of the exhaust. Theres no point upgrading the cat while still keeping the rest of the restrictive factory exhaust

some times  I still have the factory exhaust on apart from the back muffler and when I put the high flow cat on I get a +3kws and when the track cat is on I get a + 10kws  atws
so you still can get a result.

You can notice 3kw difference? ........BS

And what i said was there's no ppoint unless you remove the rest of the restrictive factory exhaust, the rear muffler is the most restrictive bar the cat

No, disagree. When I swapped out the cat, I still had the factory exhaust (apart fropm the extractors). I definitely noticed a difference even then. Even better when I swapped out the rest though. Having said that, my factory setup was already 2 and a half inches (I think that was an aero or version R option)

what's the standard error on dyno's though? probably need to repeat the tests a lot more than once to say it is a 3kw increase

not that this matters at all to the op's question :P

WEll...get a sports exhaust, hight flow cat, rpw extractors, CAI topped up with a e-manage will reap some gains on the car. 2.5 inch piping will do. If thats not enough, take out the spare wheel add in a carbon fibre boot and bonnet, use lightweight flywheel and lighter rims will make the car faster. Lolz...and if tat is still not enough, add in the happy gas

Yep, get one. As mentioned, upping the size of the rear section to 2.5 inch with mandrel bending & having some nice free flowing resonators & mufflers will compliment the gains.

actually easy just remove cat put in vice and get bar and hammer and bash all the crap out, just do it ALL or you will have that rotten egg smell which is a dead give away that you have done it, just remember only for track use

      Normal disclaimer applies

Cops can mate. If you cruise around on thrusday nights or other nights you may have seen defect stations. They can stick a probe up your exhaust and test your emmisions at these stations. It will tell them if you have no cat. Then you wear a massive fine because it's a EPA regulation and not just a vehicle law.

My tip, just get a decent high flow cat. Go and talk to an exhaust shop.

Magna's came in a 3l and a 3.5l v6... I've got no idea if the 6a12 can be bored out though... I'm kinda curious myself...
