after seeing joe digiorgio's civic do what it can do, i think anything can be possible, but would also depend on whether you still want it streetable. he's got a fully stripped 1.6 VTEC YO!!!!! with no nitro/ turbo/ s-c/ stroker etc, just heavy headwork, tuning, suspension and tyres etc running high 11's.

i would have to disagree and say YES it would be possible, to run 13s in an fto, but like i said, thats if your prepared to spending ridiculous amounts of money on it, cams, suspension, wider drag tyres, ecu, advanced timings, etc would all run you $10k + to do and it is achieveable but again like i mentioned previously its not a very wise investment as there are other cars better suited for drag racing for the money. Lets just enjoy the fto for what it is.

p.s. i have seen 164 kw atw in a fto from a uk fto owner, he ran high 13s with his setup (stripped out interior, adjustable mivec controller, cams, adv timing, cai, exhaust system, and a few more things)

Honda's are renowned for their tune-ability, we are talking about a 6a12.

Yes Simon, you're right.

But nathan is also saying that it can be achieved, if you throw enough money at it and make enough sacrifices (driveability-wise).

Its just a question of whether the return is worth the time and money invested, which I personally think it isn't.

no nathan is saying, its POSSIBLE, and for agruements sake it may be. but there is a limit that an engine can possibly put out. you cant just keep pouring money into an engine and keep getting hp you will eventually find the max the engine can handle without shredding it's self.

Now where is that limit for the 6a12???????

Who cares!!! no one is ever going to bother because as stated previously it would be a waste of money and time and there are far better engines to modify,

Thats the exact point im trying to make...its plausible but may not be worth the economic sacrifice. thanks for backing me up.

Well, a tuned mivec gets into 14's no problems. 13's with a n/a 6a12.. don't think so.

Here's the stats.

Out of 77 cars, there are only 8 GPX's in the 14 second band that do not have some sort of forced induction... and thats late 14's.

Without speding extortionate amounts of money, its not possible to make a 6A12 get into the 13's. Biggest reason why?
When making a hot naturally aspirated motor, the most important ingredient by far - cams. And guess what doesnt exist for the FTO? Hot cams.

I got my 15.2 second quarter down to a 14.7 without doing anything to the engine. The only thing i've got on the engine is an air filter and an exhaust.. If you don't include a lightweight crank pulley... I changed the Suspension, drivetrain, tyres (street tyres)... tiny bit of weight reduction n thats it.... I think after i've done some mods to the engine i could take another couple of points off but thats about it.

we have a few NA FTO's in the uk running 14.5 's and their 60' times are 2.1+sec If we can get the 60' time down to similar to mine (1.8) we could see them into the 13's

Ive spent a year tuning my suspension setup, trying different tyre selections etc...

if we are talking strictly 1/4 mile, i think the Adelia gear kit that member 'Atomrally' has would make an FTO quite easily get a 13 on the strip, with the other obvious stuff, but probably run out of range quickly after the finish line. I was going to buy that for mine.
That kit would turn any FTO into a really competitive motorkhana racer
