Lancers

Post by Supplanter »

I have noticed a common theme with us FTO owners, a lot of us have had Lancers previously to purchasing our loved ones... curious to see just how many of us ex-Lancer owners there are.

Mine was the perfect first car, always kept me out of trouble, and it's meagre appetite for fuel helped me save for a real car

funny, i seem to have better fuel economy on my FTO compared to my old PoS... (and it also ran like a dog too). oh well, guess that's just my luck.... never going back again (unless it's an Evo)!

VH Commodore to KE70 Corolla then FTO. Gran Turismo 3 got me interested in the FTO - definetly not mirages (sorry but i reckon those cars look like crap...) and lancers dont do anything for me either.

Power (it has enough) and uniqueness baby!!!!

Mazda Protege baby.... People said it was relaxing actually, which worked in my favour quite a few times haha

The FTO isn't the most accomodating car when it comes to "rocking the cazbah"

I'm thinking of getting the tripple diamond tattood on my ass... my FTO is my 4th mitsi

1st: 78 stigma, metallic green (2L auto then man)... the damn thing just wouldn't die... no matter what I did to it... although 3 engines and two gearboxes in 3 years was a pretty good attempt at killing it

2nd: 86 TN Magna silver with black "oem" pannels by time i got rid of it (2.6 efi man)... a station wagon no less... more torque than a truck and it didn't ever need a new engine :P

3rd: 00 Proton satria (1.5 man)... not 100% mitsi, but I think it counts... just a rebadged CC hatch. Great little rice car, fully loaded and better than a lancer in the handling Oh yeah.. it was one of those YELLOW ones

4th: My pride and joy, the Passion red FTO. ......

on the up side, with the way that Mitsubishi put their cars together, there's not a whole lo I don't know about their mechanicals, their "secret signs" and bodgy ways to keep them running well past their use by dates...

yeah I'm one of those who used to have a Lancer :)
and i miss it too.. coz i sold it to a friend that lives on the same road and he's riced it up :)

what i can say is that the fact that I owned a Lancer (Mitsubishi), which was very good to me and reliable.. it made the purchasing of the FTO easier as it was from a Family car name that serve me well.... I actually had a deposit on a CRX (Japan export which had electric roof that goes in the boot), but saw the FTO at the last moment and the fact that my last Mitsu was great, it made it easier 8)

like you know.. how our dads has to either buy a Toyota Camry, not because they like it... but because their old toyota lasted them 20yrs or so  ... you get what i mean :)

it's called BRAND LOYALTY :D

I was a Mirage boy.

I think it was a 96 model.

The one just before the current one where they have mirage written on the boot.

It was ok but the fact that it was an auto I couldn't handle it.
So had it for about 2 yrs and sold it and got my also passion red FTO.

And loving every minute of it...although it's little bit sick at the moment.
:(

Cheers,

Before the FTO, I used to drive my dad's ex-taxi Ford Falcon. I remember the smile on my face when the ODO read 666666 km while I was driving

my sister owns a lancer

Dont disregard the lancers, they are the best way to get a license: cant go to fast, reliable and nice handling in tricky situations.......reverse parking
