I was reading somewhere that some part of the head (tappets maybe??) have oil running through them and this needs to be drained/cleaned out
Can someone tell me what part this??

From your description, nothing in the head needs to be cleaned out.
Tappets wear our or get gummed up and need to be replaced.

No there is something that I read
Oil passes through it
Valve stems? I think these were changed though
But yeah, I heard that the hole is quite small and gets blocked up and needs cleaning

There are heaps of oil galleries in the head. Through the tappet seats, through the tappets, through the rocker blocks onto the rocker shafts & into the rocker arm bushes. Give the head a good bath in chemical cleaner & it will clear them up.
Oil though valve seals is bad. Thats what they are there for, to stop oil getting into the combustion chamber. If that happens, hello smokey exhaust.

I tried cleaning my tappets (hydraulic) but it didnt work - cleaned them with diesel and an ultrasonic cleaner but it didnt help...
Buy brand new ones is my advice (if yours is a GR)

It is MIVEC
The heads are taken apart again after their full service + port polish because they got dirty sitting around
So just thinking what to do considering it's all apart

If they got a full service then a chemy clean should have been done

I don't get any ticking sound from my current engine
I don't know if the tappets were ever adjusted but I put about 20,000km on it and still no ticking

The car has 102K km but the engine only went in at 83 or something?
The engine was from a wrecked FTO so don't know anything about it
