Bonnet - Is this legal?

Post by sublime19 »

http://www.carmate.com/product_details. ... &p_id=5862

Is this bonnet from carmate legal? it's lightweight but is it still the same as CF in terms of legalities, cos this isn't a CF bonnet.

and what's this made out of if it's not CF?

hey guys
i thought this bonnet has been discussed for only about a MILLION times!
i remember telling u guys of the experience with water run offs when i still had the fto as i had this bonnet
weight wise, defintely lighter than the stock bonnet dont ask me how much because its only from the feel when i carried my stock vs this ab bonnet.
i dont think you will get much issues if its painted fibreglass version as its not as obvious where compared to the cf its a definite yellow sticker!
past ride : FTO gpx with lots of bling bling
Current ride: EVO 8 with the MOST CARBON IN AUSTRALIA....206KW AT ALL WHEELS

well to the cops they all the same.. and to me i can't see any difference with the way it looks. the painted fibreglass version looks identical for the CF one since it has the same vents etc
sorry so what did u mean that it's not as obvious

I guess the Cops will always just ping you if it creates too much attention.

They tried to get me for my apparently "modified" front, when it's a standard Facelift model. They said I must've changed it, as cars apparently aren't allowed to have 6 light bulbs (not including the indicator).

I laughed.

cops can spot a carbon bonnet from a mile away and hit you with a canary...
painted fibreglass is just as unroadworthy but a hell of a lot harder to spot from a distance

...not that we here at FTO australia support or condone any illegal activities

you don't paint carbon fibre to match the rest of your car
...therefore it sticks out like dogs balls!

you cant tell, most likey your one is a carbon fibre overlay on the fibreglass... so its about 50% carbonfibre and the core is fibreglass...
