Has anyone done this job themselves and had success. My brother is confident he can do the job as he does it all day on airplane engines. I have read the funky fto article and have the service manual. Anything to look out for in particular.
Thanks guys.

Does 17 bucks sound about right to replace these parts if they are worn. That's 17 bucks each.

I am in the process of adjusting tappet clearance on my mivec engine. Currently have both rocker cover off.
My question is, how can I rotate the camshaft to TDC for me to make propper adjustmest on liftters?

stick a spanner on the cranks shaft pully on rotate in the proper direction....my question - is there a slot in the wheel arch to do it or do you have to try do it down the side of the engine bay ?

Thanks Biot, I'll give it go.. I found that all tappets on the inlet manifold side are all loose and driving me mad.

does the FTO manual specify hot and cold settings or only hot ?
this is the thing that makes it a pain in the arse! I would leave it to summer if it is hot because the ambient air temperature will affect your settings.

take your driver side wheel off and you will see a rubbber grommet in a hole in the plastic guard lining take it out and it will line up with the crankshaft pulley bolt you can then stick a 1/2 inch drive extension bar in and use rachet to turn it it

I have tried to make the tappet adjusting tool but with no luck. My welding skill is very bad and I already broke two ring spanners and a 10mm socket.
Does anyone know where I can get the special tool as such stated on the workshop manual? (I'm from Melbourne)
Cheers !!
