Custom Interior.. Questions!

Post by sublime19 »

Whats happening people..! :)

I definately want to get a custom interior done for my car, please keep in mind that I am a total noob at this and don't know much about how things are exactly done..

Ok first, here is a pic of my FTO

Image

I'm going to get rims for this, which will be

Image

Now, for the interior, I wanna do it a cream colour, almost a white but.. cream!

Pretty much everything inside will be this colour, seats, all of the interior will be the cream colour and I want to have outlines of either - red OR lime green. so lets say for example, where my speakers are on the doors, the outline of them will be either the red or the lime green, I don't really want to leave any black, or keep it minimal as I'm focusing on the lighter colours for the interior.

Would this go with a Black car? Would it look funny that my interior is say cream and lime green? (Keeping in mind the lime green will be minimal, just to add outlining and not just have 1 colour inside the car)

Or should I go for darker colours on the inside since my car is already dark, although I don't think it should make a difference if my car is black on the outside, so I hope the white rims will go with the interior.

What do you guys think?

Seats I gather will be around $700, so excluding the seats, how much approx. would this cost me? Also, is the interior re-painted or is different material used? I have no idea about this as I mentioned, I'm a total noob, so a bit of help would be greatly appreciated :D

I have always liked black cars with really dark black interior with a small bit of blue in it, with like some type of fluro blue lighting going through it! that would look good i reckon! but just my opionion! i think the cream would look awesome too! but yeah like someone else said would be very hard to keep clean!

The dark look is sort of more common, and hardly anybody goes the lighter colours, but I think those cream seats look pretty crazy!

Now I wanna have the roof the same colour on the inside and the dash would be the same colour, except it would have lime green (or maybe another colour not sure yet) outlining in places.

Really? That's really weird considering I got it through their wheel wizard search for most suited rims for FTO.. 8O

Yep, I'm prepared to keep it clean :D

Question: Tailored leather seats over leatherette seats: Is there any major upturn why leather seats would be better than leatherette?
I want to get leatherette seats, but I just want to get feed back from people who've got em, would you prefer leather seats over leatherette or are the leatherette perfectly fine and live up to the expectations?

So does anybody have any idea on how much it would cost to customise the console and dash, along with the doors and the interior roof? just a rough idea[/b]

Cause real leather will cost you a bomb... like $$$$ type expensive.

Only complaint I have with the leatherette is you'll burn your arse good & proper on a sunny day! Spose thats common to leather too.

hahah.. well then it's settled.. leatherette seats here I come!! I have enough money now to get the seat covers, but I want rims first so I'll wait till I get around $1800 back from my tax return and go with the interior then :D

Oh on that note.. to mxysxy (I'm guessing this is max?)

Thanks for the info in the PM you sent me a few weeks ago and the pics, great peice of info, and I hope you didn't feel that I wasted your time, cos I'm definately going for the leatherette seats, How could I not with all those influencial comments from Bennoz (I think he deserves a case of beer!), but I just need to gather the funds, so I hope in about a month and a half or so, these seat covers will still be available to order!

Note to Bennoz: Now if you DO end up getting a case of beer, you gotta split it with me :D

I just wanted something instead of chrome, its weird how they have those white rims on the wheel wizard as best suited for FTO but they dont really fit

hey sublime have u spoken to barfy, hes got a custom interior done in white and red. im not sure if his dash is just painted or covered in leather.gettin it painted would def be a cheaper option. doing the whole interior would set u back atleast a min of 3-4 grand. what i would recommend u do is get leatherette for the seats, door cards, roof lining and sun shades. the rest u could just paint up in the cream. oh and the rims, def the 3rd one. :)

Wow great info, thanks shue! Ya I PM'ed Barfy but he never replied

Repainting definately sounds better! that way i won't be spending 3-4 grand on it, if i get door cards, roof lining and sun shades, with the leatherette seats, any idea on how much that would cost (as the cheaper option, just getting a rough idea on how much cheaper it would be)

And call me a noob but what exactly are door cards and sun shades  [/b]
