FTO vs SUPRA
Can an FTO beat a SUPRA NON-turbo???
Looking at the power to weight ratios, the fto has an advantage in being much lighter....
I would hope that we could beat a supra. Can anyone give some more info on this?? What other factors could make the FTO lose?

Yeah supra's are relatively heavy aren't they? I know a mate's S13 turbo can beat a clean twin turbo supra in the trafic light duel. The light weight of the silvia helped him get the launch. By the same point I think the supra would have reeled him in over say a quartermile. Speaking of the SR20 as well just thought I'd share that this mates S13 dipped into the 12's over the weekend with a 12.9 at 106m/h. Considering the car has only had a few grand spent on it I was well chuffed for our local imports.

NA Supras are surprisingly quick, particularly if breathing mods have been done on it. i've ran very close against an NA Supra in stock form, but got chopped by another NA Supra with exhaust, filter and ECU.
i guess it also depends largely on how well both drivers can launch their car... don't forget that Supras are FR/RWD cars, hence they get better traction over the driving wheels during launch plus they've got bags of linear torque on tap (due to their 3.0l capacity). however i've heard on other forums that auto Supras are marginally quicker due to taller gearing, but I am yet to be convinced... at the end of the day, the bullshit stops when the right foot drops.

i've ran against an NA 300ZX some time ago (standing start) and i beat him by about half a car length by the end of 3rd... in NA trim they're slow-as (due to their weight) but in TT form they'll munch the FTO quite easily though' me thinkslal wrote:how about FTO vs 300ZX??? my friend has one, haven't given him a go yet (fully stock 300ZX).. i'm sure ppl has given them a go... what was the result??or

I have beaten an NA Supra - but to be honest I think it was because he was an inexperienced driver (still on red Ps), the car was stock as (even factory rims) and he had a passenger in the car as well. I got a better take off but he caught up pretty good then eventually I pulled away. But it was pretty close, considering his experience.

i believe the SSS uses a non-turbo version of the SR20 (shared by the NX coupe) which makes about 105-110kw stock i think...jetlee wrote:FTO-NX, what are the specs on a SSS
i know they are decent car but they'd have nothing on 130 odd kw GR (specially with your mods), i would have thought
not so sure about torque figures either, but i don't suppose they'll be any more than 140-160NM.
the latest variants of the SSS in Japan uses variable timing and makes about the same HP as the MIVEC V6 though'!
