snow tyres

Post by SG »

was talking to a guy at bob janes t mart today about new tyres and whats the largest width will fit on the standard rim and he thought maybe 215s would be a stretch but then he checked the computer and no one made any. Anyway I ended getting replacement tyres of the same size when he said that the current tyres on the car were snow tyres.

took some pics below...

The 2nd hand car dealer I bought the car from were made by a RAC check I think to replace all 4 current different brand tyres with replacements of the same type.. so I guess they took a cheap option :(

I knew they were "different" lol... but not snow type different.

I only noticed the tyres are rediculus for grip when I went to go around a corner the other day after it rained when I slowed down heaps (because it was wet) and gently rolled around the corner at like 15kph but still getting understeer like the tyres were made of wood... they didnt do anything for grip. and was expecting them to grip atleast after a second or two of understeer but it was only until i turned the wheel at a sharper angle did they scrub and grip.

they can disperse water puddles ok but not slick/wet roads...

damn dodgy 2nd hand car dealers :( the tyres are ok, they have enough grip but in the wet they lock up so fast if you brake just over medium-sorta-strength
