Taking off plastic surround ...

Post by barfy »

Hi guys,

Im putting in a tv into my car over the weekend its a one din where the screen slides into itself so it will fit perfectly above my head unit. Anyway i want to know is there a special way of taking the plasitic surround off without cracking it...

Take the plastic surround first,
Put your finger into the gap opened up close to the gear stick,
Pull it up

I always lift mine from the bottom (closest to the rear seats).

I just found it impossible to remove it with out breaking it, I pulled it up and was going good untill I got to the headunit bit, So I fixed it, abit of super glue, plastic welding, sanding and painting, looks like new and stock, can't even see the cracks but I broke it again by pulling it off again.
