FTO battery/alternator/wiring issue?? Urgent!
Hi guys,
Just need some help with an issue I have, and I don't want to give my car into the mechanics for a few days at a time to sort this issue out if someone knows of what this may be caused by..
My FTO suddenly loses power if i accelerate hard and then step on the brakes.. or even when im reversing slowly or when im letting the car roll for a bit while the engine is running (e.g. when im stopped at traffic lights for a certain period). The battery indicator shows that the battery slows down to less than 8v and the car totally loses power n the engine switches off. I can't restart the car as the engine wont start up, but there are no funny noises being made etc.. only the sounds on trying to restart are similar to when the battery is dead - however it does start back up again perfectly fine after a few minutes and/or if someone jump starts the car (happened quite a few times).
After some very expensive elimination processes (ie, changing the starter motor end of last yr to a new one, placing in a new alternator + changing the battery a couple of weeks back) the problem still persists. The NRMA have checked the charging of the alternator and it seems perfectly fine (14.8 v).
Has anyone come across this issue before or know what may be causing it? If I get it fixed, does anyone know how much it may cost because ive already spent well over 2K trying to get this rectified in the last few weeks. Im not confident in taking the car for a drive due to this issue so its causing a lot of headache.
Thanks

Here u go & from memory turn it clockwise is lowing the idle & anti-clock wise is increasing it.
Just use a flat head screw driver.

what's with the alternator nowdays, i'm replacing my alternator as well, currently in the workshop ... close to $700 all up ... ouch

The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world's problem.

Nope!
It wasnt the idling for me.. the car stopped twice yday.. once when i was reversing out of a driveway and it just stopped. i felt like a complete idiot in the middle of the friggin road with my hazards on, and trying to hide my face until the car started back up. all the other cars goin past had to dodge mine.
I have a long lost friend who happens to mod performance cars. He's looking into it tommorrow and will hopefully get back to me sometime soon.
Will keep you guys posted.
