So I raced this Skyline
Yeah the other night I pulled up next to a 33 GTST and the nice dude seemed up for a race. 0-100kmh (the speed limit) and he won of course but put no distance between myself and him, we were still practically side by side.
Very cool feeling,

me = resident Skyline owner
Skyline = 140kw at the wheels in stock form
FTO = 100kw at the wheels in stock form
Skyline = 2.5L, extremely torquey motor, RWD turbocharged
FTO = 2L, high revving but less torque, FWD NA
Skyline = 0-100 in 6.21s, 400m 14.4s
FTO = 0-100 in 7.6s, 400m 15.49s
(these stats picked from http://www.importdriver.com.au/Coupe_Targa.htm)
I probably sound very tedious because I mention it everytime, but an FTO will lose to an R33 GTST..and if the R33 has any modifications (eg exhaust) you're looking at about 160kw at the wheels minimum which is a pretty damn big hurdle you're going to have to even consider before you've even started.
I've dragged my gf of a standing start, whilst low boost was dialled in and there seriously is no comparison.

Me=person who was there. Road was damp so that probably helped.
You race the driver and not the car. I was there and I know what happened. He at least had some exhaust work done too. I almost beat a vs ss ute at the dragstrip one night because the guy couldn't get a good launch. It's not always about the car.
I'm by no means saying that my car is a Skyline beater but this time I feel the need to quote a once famous under cover cop/ricer...Dude I almost had you!

I really think that the fto is understated, when anyone asks what car i have and i say an fto they always seem to be like, ooh ok and i get the feeling that they think its a sh*t car, i raced this fool on his green p's the other day, i wasnt looking for a race i was just in a bit of a hurry and as i drove past him he floored his vt ss, which looked like it had a bit of work done, had a big exhaust, and when we pulled up at the next set of lights me being the friendly person i am i looked over with a smile, but this guy was dead serious, he was sooo confident that he would win and when the lights turned green i smashed him to piece's it was kindof embarasing for the guy!!
Im not advocating streen racing in any way but if there was more ppl out there showing the boofheads in there v8's, xr6's and bombadores etc what our cars can do ( to the legal speedlimit of course) then we mite get more respect for the cars we drive!!

at the end of the day any bogan can own a fast holden - but its still a holden. I would much prefer a car not as quick that looks a hell of a lot better and is not driven as a fleet car . i personally just dont get the whole holden and ford infatuation.payaya wrote:Another case of beating the driver not the car. I get that a lot, a few people lately have put me down because since I owned an FTO, but I guess I get that because I'm driving a different car to everyone else, where I live it is full of commodores and falcons, but I just tell them "No matter what you have done to your car, your car is still a family car" thats what a commodore and falcon's are a family car.

Let's do some simple maths........
6.0l displacement V8 = 260kW Clubsport
2.0l displacement 4 cylinder turbo = 250kW EVO IX
It's absolutely shameful wasting all that potential power, but it just shows that they're not really all that smart coz any bogan can get 300kW by sticking a 47 litre engine in a chassis.

Entry level Clubsports with Gen4 LS2 are now pulling 297kw & 530Nm with 0-100 5.3sec & 1/4 miles of 13.5sec
Evo IX with MIVEC (Oz spec) are now pulling 206kw & 355Nm with 0-100 5.7 & 1/4 miles of 13.6sec
These are just factory stand/start figures, due to the torque as Ben pointed out, the clubsport will pull away from the EVO in rolling start, but not by much due its weight. Its a catch 20 really.
*insert F&TF line here* It doesn't matter if win by a inch or............
Motor Mag Jan Issue did a test between EVO IX, MY06 STI & Gen4 Clubsports. So if you guys interested get a copy or a back copy.

I love my Fords. When you get a taste of power you want it forever!EURO wrote:at the end of the day any bogan can own a fast holden - but its still a holden. Also with these bigger engines its way easier to extract more power out of them. Just with a simple ECU edit can give you 50RWKW! Its easy to get a Boss V8 to 300RWKW.

sorry i cant stand them.... im not talking from a power perspective. from all reports the new fords are great driving cars....
BUT i think they totally lack any styling cues at all, and the holdens and fords look more like eachother every day....
any the cheapest models which every person on the road has, look very similar to the top models.
just not a muscle car fan. sorry.
