RPW Opinions?

Am currently mapping out my modification plan...

I'm an impatient bugger & I want to get my FTO finished...

Once my body kit arrives I will be putting the car in for a respray...

While the engine is out I'd like to take advantage and have a few bits n bobs fitted...

I have been perusing (hee hee... I said perusing!) the RPW website and WOW do I have RPW induced woody!!! They have EVERYTHING I'm after...

BUT...

I'm curious to hear from any RPW customers here?

Quality? Service? After Sale Support? Etc etc...

Regardless of what you bought... What's your opinion?

i got the extactors from them. got exactly what i wanted. no dramas.

RPW don't seem too bad.
The short shifter is great that I have from them,
And I have other parts which aren't installed yet but they look pretty decent.
Anytime I call I get friendly good advice.



In the end of the day RPW is quite good. The only disappointment I have in them is lack of performance gain figures on their products. And that's isn't too bad in the small things like extractors and stuff, as they aren't that expensive and people have used them and gave comments back, but it's the cams I would like results in. Though RPW themselves do say that for cost V benefit they aren't worthwhile, so I guess it's not too bad

Bit on the pricey side though in regards to forged internal parts. They quoted me close to $10000 for pistons, valves, valve springs, conrods (and maybe cams).

I've spoken to a few local companies in melbourne and they can do the whole package for around $5000-$6000.

Yeah, well I'm only looking at some entry level engine modifications...

A nice suspension setup...

Upgraded brakes...

I'm not looking at building a balltearer I'm more a cosmetics & audio fan... :lol: Besides... With the audio install I'm doing... The added weight will kill most performance gains... Mainly want to offset the added weight issue from the audio system & for her to run silky smooth & sound grumpy!

i know there is a certain amount of bias coming with the following... however...


give UAS the option to quote on the brake upgrade kit the price from memory is 1800.00 or maybe less it has been on my car now for 3 months and its fantastic...

i'm using group A commodore callipers and 330mm rotors...

suspension your probably better off getting locally unless you can't do a decent deal.

they are great if everything goes well, but can be a real pain in the a$$ if it dosent.

they shipped me the wrong extractor, i had to pay for the shipping back, pay for the mechanic to take my original extractors off, TRY to fit the new ones, then fit my old ones back on, i then shipped the extractors u by express courier.then have to wait a few days before they got their act together . they kept saying "yeah takes a few days mate" i had the tracking number and i could see it was signed off allready that day!!!!!
then they had a 1 minute looks and say "oh this is the wrong extractor, we will send him the corect one now" then send it back by snail mail. i had to pay for the mechanics time and they offer NO apologies and no compensation what so ever.


they dont really seem to care once you have bought it.

this experience i hope is an exception as opposed to a rule.

that doesnt make any sense....

if they sent the wrong extractor - its their mistake..... u shouldnt (i would refuse) to pay for that..... its only your fault if you ordered the wrong set.... there is no way you should have to pay for freight etc when they have sent the wrong one.

Without trying to get into a great debate over this, basically the policy of RPW is essentially

If a component is sent out wrong, which it does occasionally happen, then we will either arrange or organise for the customer to send the goods back and then we will arrange to send out the correct items.

The issue in this particular case, is not that they were sent back to us, but the method they were sent back to us. They were sent Australia Post Priority Air Freight post which was valued around the $180.00 bracket.

At no time woudl we ever authorise, or cover the freight values of this value. We would cover that of a normal freight line, or have organised the freight ourselves even via TNT road express a 5 day service.

The goods were sent back to the customer at our own expense. When you are dealing with goods being sent around the country, if a problem does occur it is not something, when talking about the size of these packages, being a full set of extractors, something that is going to be rectified over night.

Without trying to be argumentative, we try to rectify the problem as quickly as possible, but ultimatly, our lawful obligation under the law, is to organise if possible the return of the goods and to send out the correct replacement components.

There didn't need to be any extra mechanical costs as fitting goes, as you woudl have had to pay for the stock system to be removed anyway and then for the replacement set to be fitted.

The only issue woudl have been the vehicle off the road whilst goods are in transit which we can only apologise for.

But to clarify, we will not pay for premium freight services for packages that size to be shipped over the country. It was the customers choice to do this, not ours so please lets be fair over this.

I know this is an emotional subject, but please, before responding, think through clearly and concisely. There is no need to make a huge big issue about this.

mits man - I didnt know that the buyer had chosen this method of shipment. I therefore understand your stance. If normal procedure had of been followed I am assuming you would have paid for shipping back via a non express method.

Correct - and this was not aimed at anyone in particular, not even the customer we had the problem with. It is just that I have seen this type of thing get out of hand and thought a clear explanation would help to stop something from getting out of control.

Our policy as siad, is we will in the case of a wrong item supplied, either repay the customer the freight costs via equivelent of australia post regular post or we arrange the shipment ourselves via equivelent of TNT raod freight at our own discounted rates.

Once we get the goods back and inspect them, we then arrange to send out the replacement items straight away.

The reason why we don't do anything until we get the origonal goods back is because we first want to see if there is actually anything wrong with them, make sure no damage to them from incorrect fitting etc and also make sure we get our goods back. Some people in the past have done this to us, we sent out replacement goods and then they refuse to return the origonal goods.

Anyway not to make a large fuss over this but just wanted to be fairly clear about why in this particular case, we did not offer to pay for the freight component to send the goods back to us.

Hey North,

I can probably say that i have all the mods you want on my car which was bought from RPW. I have the TB/Manifold, extractors, FPR and the thermo blocks for both the manifold and TB... Never had a problem with them and Dave is always there for advice on where to go next with your mods ....

i choose the fastest method to ship it, which was my choice and my responsibility, and i wasnt not expecting to get compleatly reimbursed for the frieght. BUT there was no offer in repayment of part of the frieght not even non express method amount. no mention what so ever. i was also interested in the 63 mm TB and the FPR and there was no mentioning of a discount. as i thought it would be easier if i purchased another item at a cheaper rate. i then brought it to their attention that the wrong parts were sent, the postage, time etc. all the person on the other line said was " sorry, but mistakes happen" quite adamatly, no hint of even normal freight cost compensation

as for the mechanical aspect, i had the original ones put back on so i can have a car to drive. the removal, installation, removal, instalation did occur costs.

the shipping method i choose had a tracking service which allowed me to see when they have recieved the item in the morning 11AM. i even called the courier company and they made sure they HAD delievered with a signed signature. even with this they insisted they havent recieved it, had a check and still dont have it. it was until the next day when i called they informed me it was the wrong part sent out and the replacement is sent.

i paid a premium for postage so it would arrive as soon as possible, not so it can sit there and wait. they let it sit there over night with out looking at something that has come in on priority express mail.

to clarify, there was no offer of ANY compensation at all.

having said that, they DID replace the parts WITHOUT argument and sent it snail mail the next day. also i did call on a separate day a while after this incident and spoke at length to dave regarding the FPR and he was most inforamtive and helpful. so i guess my incidence was an rare exception. and i have mainly heard good things of RPW, but just wanted to show of the other side percentage

i just wished convery my side not to start a debate.
