I haven't done a check on a triptonic on the fto but I will give you the basics which goes for all Auto's.

I don't know where is the dip-stick but on the dip-stick it will have a couple of marks on it (cold high and low and hot high and low), they best way is to have the car at operating temperature.
With the car at Idle on the spot go through the gears from park to drive and bacl to park again, with the car at idle still check the oil level on the dip-stick it should be in the hot area, if it is low top it up.

But since I don't know much about the fto triptronic, I better just tell you this as well, some cars don't have a dip-stick like the Holden VZ SV6 Auto.
The way to check the auto oil level on the SV6 is you have to have it at a certain temp which I think was 55 dergrees(I forget) and there is a plug on the side of the gearbox where u have to have a presure gadge or something like that anyway, and it has to be at a certain pressure or something.

If it is the first one it should be easy, I think thats what the FTO is like anyway.

Just make sure that you have the correct grade of transmission fluid. if it not correct, the box can refuse to operate.

tarkus has brought up a good point, oil grade is important, I think it uses Dexron III, like I said befor I don't know a great deal on the FTO triptronic.
Just make sure first if it uses Dexron III.

Actually I saw an article in HPI and it seems that Unique Autosports has released a new type of oil that will stop your transmission from jolting. Can't remember what the oil is called but anyone tried this oil?
