I have been driving my FTO without a speedo for about a month now. All my gauges work fine and the car drives normally except the speedo which just sits at 0. Furthermore, where the digital KM's reading used to show all my km's travelled, eg 104,340 it now simply shows six dashes like this - - - - - - . Has anyone had this problem and if so, any pointers on what possibly could be wrong?
I took it to an Auto electrician and he said that I needed a whole new cluster unit. Said the job would cost in excess of a grand. I have no doubt that he was trying to blatantly rip me off blind. He looked dodgy as all f***.
Any help would be thoroughly welcomed and appreciated from all you FTO geniuses.
PS - My car is a 95 model Tiptronic GR if that helps.
