Timing advance

Post by efteoh »

im curious to know is it worth advancing the timing in the fto for power gains (piggy back) or should i just leave the timing to the factory ECU and try to milk power (if any) out of just fuel adjustments im not expecting huge power gains, just wanting to seek some more experienced unbiased advice

With the mod you got at the moment, i wouldn't go & mack around with the timing.

Advancing the timing also might not necessarily cater for the air/fuel mixtures considering the most we get here is 98 octane........unless you're using that Shell 100 octane fuel.

thats what i was thinking as the mods i've done are mainly with fueling. but i was thinking with a conbination of the two (timing and fuel) i can realy optimse the current setup (extractors, exhaust, CAI soon). you how its a cnbination of all the parts rather individual parts that make the improvement.

Well if you're gonna do it you're better off tacking an ECU to handle the fuel maps etc....

It's just irony that when you change one single thing on the car heaps of other things gotta change and the money starts to add up all of a sudden.

yeah finially, they sent the wrong ones out initially. wasnt too impressed, rpw took their time, went "oh, we sent the wrong one out, oh well". i paid for express postage to get the extractors up there, paid for lee's time to "TRY" to fit the incorrect ones, RPW didnt offer any compensation what so ever. and made it sound like i should be gratefull they even exchanged it. when i then asked about the TB, they got back to me after the monthly special was over, and then said the special isnt applicable anymore. all in all, wasnt too happy. david seems busy, but was helpfull when you did managed to catch him. but still not the best impression thou.

anyway back on topic. im thinking about ditching the computer idea now, i dont really think i've got enough mods to justify the money and to gain a 5-10fwkw
