anyone know where to get (sydney) the fire extinguisher that can fit in the passenger side. and how much do they cost?

the loops in the passenger footwell are for a "flare". not to be fitted in Australia. in Japan they are carried for emergency use when you breakdown.

You can remove them and fit any small extinguisher.

hehehe my flare was in the boot when i bought the car.... they last for ages.

best bet would be too look up a safety equiptment supplier in the yellow pages..

i got a fire extinguisher in the passenger side where the flare should be :wink:

all u need ta do is buy a small fire extinguisher, get urself a drill, a couple of steel plates, bolts and nuts and your done :P

take off the door step plastic thingy, then work your way up to that panel and remove it out. Then just install the fire extinguisher

I was looking at this, but in the end I stuck a torch there instead. It is a bit loose though, and has a habit of flying out if I get a bit too happy with the accelorator :oops:

I had an extinguisher in a number of my old cars - word of advice, dont mount it under your drivers seat.... really sucks when it rolls out under all 3 pedals! 8O

Any Hi-performance type shop can source you one thats suited for petrol type fires in cars. I bought mine from Victoria performance wholesale out west of Sydney. Dunno if they are still operating, this was 10 years ago. Alternatively, look up extinguisher manufacturers that sell to the public.
