Electrical Nightmare emerging!!

Post by heathy12 »

Oops, posted this in the wrong section!

This problem Started this morning and im puzzled as to what it could be.

First my sterio stopped working, dosn't power up or anything. Then when I put the ignition on the speedo ODO reading displays and the Trip counter resets, the A/c control unit also resets and turns on the A/c pump. No fuses that I can see have tripped and ive disconnected the battery for 3hours to reset the ECU. Before I did the reset the trip computer didnt clock up the miles but the ODO did, now they both seem to work ok untill you turn the ignition off, then the trip computer resets itself and the A/c comes on.

Im puzzled as to what could cause this problem to arrise, the cars fine to drive and everthing else works A.Ok. starting to get worried.

Ive removed the Sterio and noticed that my Hazzard warning light power feed comes off the same feed as the sterio. Is there anyway that this could've effected any of the cars other electrical systems??

Has anyone had anything similar happen to them ??! Any technoheads out there that could help diagnose a problem.....

Just been out to the car again to recheck things, have noticed that the interior lights dont work along with the clock, hazzards and the FTO door trims Ive got. Im at a loss because all of the Fuses seem to be okay....

Grrrrr. Bloody car!! AlthoughI'll give it its due, ive had 3years of motoring without ONE fault from the car! Hoping this'll be a fuse to change, switch to flick and i'll be away again!

Can Anyone help??!

it sounds like you've blown the accessories fuse. It's a red 10 amp fuse located in the fuse box in front of the car. There are some spare fuses just above the accelerator on the drivers side.

Hope this helps :)

Had a similar problem a while back. Turns out one of the main fuses in the fuse box was missing one of the small bolts on the side. Make sure they are all in nice and tight.
