I've seen someone modify a R129 SL500 into a R230 SL500, look 99% identical, even with the retractable metal roof and 7 speed tip box.

Anyway this guy did a remarkable job, for any average Joe, they wouldn't able to tell the different. But there are some give away, heeheh I thought I point them out.

1. Dials, the SLR Dials are black when switch off, & only the words & numbers lumminate bright white with a bit of light blue when in use.

2. The engine is really messy apart from the engine cover, even then, its still the wrong one, as used the V8 one & not the V12

3. The interior switches are missing.

4. Missing all 10-12 airbags.

5. The rear end is shorter.

But as I said before, this guy has a remarkable workmanship. Hats off for him.

Now who’s going to turn a FTO into a mini Aston Martin ehehehehe

There is another huge difference - one that can easily be spotted from the outside. In the last pic you can see smoke coming out of the back of the car. the SLR has exhaust pipe which comes out from the right side of the car just beside the door.lol

just felt like pointin that out

But the SLR engine is a V8. So it is the correct one. Pretty sure it's not a carby though

That's just awesome - I love the SLR...

Yep your're correct the SLR is running a V8 supercharged

For some reason i keep thinking it share the same engine as the SL600 :?

Not that I am aware of. But judging by pics it seems to have passed a few seasons.
