GPX/GR

Post by dstocks »

Only the GPX/GPvR has variable Cam Timing. You can feel the cam kick in at about 5000RPM on the GPX. The GR wont do that.

I havent had a close look at a GR so wouldnt be able to tell you the difference visually. I know the mivec cover is one difference, but if was put on a GR, I couldnt tell you.

The oil filler cap is on the left of a mivec engine and on the right of the low powered  gr.
Also the red line is at 8000 rpm on the gpx and less (7500 iirc) on the gr.The gr will also have a maf sensor after the airbox, the gpx doesn't.....it has a map sensor bolted to the engine bay bulkhead

Gpxs have bigger brakes too, although i don't think you'd notice that unless they were side by side

hth :)

You can get the GR's to go hard... dont worry about that! :D

But yeah, biggest noticeable difference is in the engine bay:

Mivec engine - note oil filler is on left

Non Mivec - oil cap on right - no pretty plastic cover over the head
