Am I just strange for wanting this done to my fto?

Post by Star_Lancer »

Well, my friends are against it...but I got idea in my head that won't go away.

My fto is black.

Image

I want black wheels for it. Apparently this is a big no no. Can anyone explain why? I think these would look great on it. What suits a black car without having to resort to chrome?

Image

Also, I haven't seen this done yet (someone please tell me otherwise) but an RX7 FD wing would look awesome on an FTO I think.

What do you all think?

Feedback appreciated. So confused!

I'm a big fan of dark wheels, if you like it go for it. If you need some photoshopping done many people can help including myself.

GarryD has black mags on his black FTO, here's the pics from the last cruise, http://www.ftoaustralia.com/modules.php ... ght=#55047

IMHO, black chrome would look way cool on a black FTO too.

I think those bronze-ish wheels look great on black cars, like the ones in your pics above...

Either that or wheels with a black centre and spokes, but with a chrome or silver rim. I saw some like that on a black RX-8 yesterday and it looked awesome...

It's gone :( - now carless...

I like both ideas, black wheels give that sinister look.
Also sunraider has that same wing on her FTO & it looks mean... Its bigger than the VS wing by quite a bit... I'll see if I can find some photos

I'm another one who thinks black rims will look really hot. Go for it :)

Well the wing on the FD RX7 are the Veil side wings, which probably the most common after market FTO wings I’ve even seen, they just about every where.

With the black car, I would choose that bronze color, which is the rim next to the black you posted, as to me back wheels on back car kind of makes it look like hub caps. I had Black rims like Garry D before, but mine is silver colour.

If you want darker color then bronze, then you can try Hyper Black, which is a color got a bit of chrome, its different to the shadow chrome, as hyper black is more of a matt finish, and the shaow chrome are "bling bling"

To be honest I dislike black mags....reason being....a tyre should be visibly seperate from the wheel. A good compromise is a silver/chrome lip but that still looks a little weird to me.

Why not get white wheels....they always look good on black/dark cars.

Or maybe that Subaru gold colour on your wheels. Ever seen a black STi with gold wheels? HOT.

I think you may find Sunraider has a Celica wing on her car - at least that's what she told me and from memory it sits a fair bit higher that the Mazda one. I may have a photo of it at home, Ill check and post it if I do.

I wasn't sure at first when i thought about it, but seen some of the guys on the UK forum with black wheels on a black car, and so long at you pick a decent style of wheel, they can look damn good!
If you can't dazzle them with dexterity, baffle them with bull...

Awesome thanks a lot guys. :D

Yeah it's pretty particular with the type of wheel because most black looks pretty bad on most cars.

I just got idea though that black wheels with the Daytona kit and Gt wing will give it a real JDM racing look. The white wheels could work too!

Too much choice haha.

So that one in foreground is a Veilside?

RX7 FD wing (one i posted) and veilside the same? The edges look a little sharper on the FD's.

I've got a better pic of Sunraider's wing but it's on the home PC and I'm at work.

While it does have the characteristics of a VS wing....I don't think it's a wing specific to any type of car as I have seen it on many cars from Lancers to RX7's.

Ah okay I see, I only really seen them on RX7.

I really like scarecrow's GT wing. Looks like it would suit daytona kit.
