fuel consumption of the FTO

Hi guys, i'm new here and i'm thinkin of getting a FTO. jus wondering what is the fuel consumption of the car?

i average about 9km's per L of BP Ultimate

not bad, but not amazing

I find the FTO is ok with petrol not the best out there but pretty good for the performance.

I usually get 500km out of a tank of around 52L of Mobil Synergy 8000. So just under 10km/litre. Thats for normal around town 'me going to work and back' driving...

If I'm a good boy I can milk 500 out of the tank.

My average is between 400-450 though.

Well, the "old" engine was much more fuel efficient than the "new" one. Used to get 550-600 easy out of a tank, without the fuel light coming on. This engine, although not done as many km's on it, would only see about 500km's tops.

But it does go a bit better

Also might mean it is running a bit rich though.

I used to get 500km out of a tank but now that I do a lot of inner city driving and short trips I only get about 400-450 kms a tank.

Over the last 5 fillups of ~ 42 - 50litres (when the fuel light appears, fill to click + little extra to get to next dollar) i've gotten 13.1L, 12.8L, 12.9L, 13.6L and 12.1L per 100km.

To "a tank" (which is anything from 42-50L as above, fuel light is a pain in the ass and comes on when theres between 10 - 18L still in the tank) I get 330 - 400km. This is with no trips longer then 15minutes though.

Once when I did a tank of long highway/motorway runs I got significantly past 500km before the light came on.

It's just my driving style I think though, i'm a little acceleration happy

When I first baought the car went like slug and only got 370km per tank...

Reset ECU and serviced... went better still got 370km/tank

after about 2 months slug again... this time really bad got 350Km/tank

took it to a reputable rip off mechant (did a great job at fixing the car and tuning it but cost me a bomb!!!) found rear brake caliper ceased on, Dyno tune.. now get ~470KM/tank could push to 500 if I waited for the light to come on...

I have a GPX and highway travel for 20 mins each way to work every day.

If I let the foot do what it wants and I'm in mvec a lot I get around 400-420km/tank

I am getting really annoyed with my FTO at the moment regarding to fuel consumption and performance.

I only drive for 15kms each way to work everyday, which takes around 30-40 mins each way. Also to the supermarket and other small trips.

This includes hardly ever anything over 5k rpm or mivec action.

I feel very lucky to see 400 before a fill up. 350-380kms is normal for a full tank.

I have never seen my car doing those 500+ kms mentioned before for a full tank.

Sick of spending $50+ everyweek on petrol to work.

Dont feel so bad about sh*tty fuel economy...

I've had as bad as 350k to the tank city driving
I've had as good as 550k to the tank country driving

All depends on circumstance & foot weight (spose a good tune helps too...)

I used to get about 550kms per tank, 30 min trips to work and back, not stopping much and reaching speeds of 80kmh in some places.

Now that I have moved a lot closer to work and travel 10 mins, stopping at several stop lights

and only reaching speeds of 60kmh max (mostly below though) my mileage has dropped to around 500km or worse

But my fuel bill is half now

Regarding crap fuel consumption, you should give the car a squirt every so often, especially if you're just cruising around in it for 30 minute trips and no extended drives.

I don't know if this is scientific (as in I've never verified it) but just pottering around without giving the car a little bit every so often to get rid of carbon deposits that build up around the spark plugs will result in lower fuel econ as the spark plugs don't get a chance to clean themselves, and therefore you don't get a clean spark. 250cc Motorbikes get these issues if you don't give them a bit, every so often, so I don't see why it wouldn't carry onto cars *shrugs*

Maybe I'm just making crap up =) but it seems to work for me. I get around 260-270 kms with the indicator just under half (I've moved to Perth and I'm around 15-20 mins from CBD where work is =P)

Shocking! I just filled my car 34L for $43 premium unleaded!!! Lucky i just moved close to my office, i just walk to my office now. I get about 450-500 on a full tank

U run on premium?? So is that mean you running on 95rons? Most members i'm aware of is running 98rons (Ultimate, Synergy or the Crappy Optimax) So try those & then see what you bill become eheheheh

It won't drop as hurricane Katrina had destroyed 1/4 New Orleans, & thatâ€™s where the U.S own oil supply is from. Therefore the U.S will need raise the demand of outsourcing oil, which causes the price rise.

Remember U.S is 5% of the world population but using 10% of the world resource.
