What the hell is wrong???

Post by payaya »

Hey guys my Timing belt alignment is screwed! I cant get it to lign up properly! Hear are some pictures of the cam marks.

The car off the line is sluggish and seems to surge. Engine under load is just vibrates and crap!

Look at the picutures! would the vibration/surging be caused by the timing or something else like leads/coil etc?

thanks

With the vibrating you describe, the first thing I'd check is you put the right leads back to the right plugs :)

Im not sure but past experience with non aligned timing belts can cause serious damage to valves and pistons, even putting valves throught the side of your block.

Have a look at this article:
http://www.ftowa.com/html/workshop/work ... iming.html

it may be usefull, from what i hear and know, it could be a mixture of things together... like the timing and the sparks.... hmm... personally i'm not game enough to try and change my timing belt :|

hey payaya...
its hard to tell from your pics but as long as you have all of your timing marks aligned including the crank shaft pulley at TDC, you should be right...

you might want to re-check the rear bank cam pulley on the exhaust side because apparently its hard to align that one properly... i hear its pretty common to have the rear cam pulley off by one tooth

found the problem its the tranny! Its just a bad coincidence that the tranny started to stuff up same time as the timing belt change. Bascially i had it rebuilt once, they did a dodge so its stuffed again.

Bascially torque convertor is rooted, clutches burnt, last rebuilders did a dodgy patching up oil pump, putting ballbearings into cracks etc.
