Advice needed!

Post by ray23 »

hi guys...
Everytime when i stepped passed the 6000rpm, the engine seems not to be running, it stalls, although the redline shows 8000rpm. The RPM needle juz jumps up and down. But it is running perfectly if i don;t step past 6000rpm. It doesn't seem to happen last time and some of my fren said it's caused by the gearbox. please advise me what other problems might have causes it.
Thank you..

I've read that when the engine is cold, the rev limit is reduced to 6K.

I have to admit I hit it once (before I read the article). I felt really guilty about thrashing my GPX before the oil had a chance to get hot. I haven't done it since though.

If yours does it all the time, is it possible that the computer isn't getting the signal that the engine has warmed up?

if it still does it after you been driving for about 15 - 20 minutes then I would say your oil temperature sender needs replacing

Yeah ive had the same problem regarding the engine being cold and not being able to rev past 6K ... damn ive done it like 5 times not intentionally just forget and sometimes dont let the engine warm up long enuff... its not a good feeling... best to warm up your car for a bit...before dragging ... especially during winter..

thank you very much guys....yah...mostly it happens after i washed my car or had juz driven bout 5 or 10 minutes...but it does happened once at this time although i had driven for 30 minutes....so i guess i'll have to check the oil temperature sender..or the computer isn;t getting the right signal...

dannyboyau, where does the oil temperature sender located and how does it looked like?..hehe..thanks
