Do you recognise my adjustable suspension?

Post by andy »

I have got adjustable front and back shocks and I would like to know more about them.

The front are top adjustable using a screwdriver. There are four positions, each with a coloured quadrant numbered 1-4 and a dot to line up. Other than that I haven't found any useful markings to identify them.

The back ones have an adjuster wheel at the bottom of the shock. There are 8 positions numbered 1-8 and there's a sticker saying 'buzz spec'. There's no mark telling you what to line the numbers up with, but as you change the numbers the wheel gets stiffer to turn and feels like it releases when you get back to having the 1 at the top.

I think everything is adjusted to the softest settings - but it's still hard as nails, mind you it corners like a beast (front strut brace and all)!

don't really know what you're asking dude???

I have the same sort of suspension, mine are Daytona Dcuatro's though (which is being replaced soon).

The reason that it is so bloody bumpy and rattly is because it is simply a racing type suspension. So even for me on the softest mode it is a real bumpy ride. Not too good with Sydney roads etc. :? .. I originally thought it needed a re-gassing after a dude by pedder's told me so. He also said that many of these Japanese aftermarket susi's can actually break, and sometimes they become stuck on whatever level they are on (some long shaft can snap). On the other hand though, he might just be FULL OF SH!T.

So, i donno, if you're asking why they are so bumpy, that could be caused by three things.

1. just the way they are (racing sus)
2. need regassing
3. valve snapped

Cheers guys.

I was trying to work out what make they are and if anyone knew if they were any good. I don't think they're dead or anything, I'm sure they're just damn stiff.

You're right about the Sydney roads though!

I might try for some pics at the weekend.

With really low profile tyres you also feel every little bump. Having a slightly bigger profile helps cushion the blow.

There is always a trad-off between comfort and better performance / handling.

Your FTO is a work of art.

I didn't see any picture of suspension though - I followed the link from your profile. Are there any other pages?

Cheers

Cheers G1 - my front shocks are the same as yours. Do you know the make / model / spec?

The backs look similar to mine in design, but mine have got 8 positions rather than 4 and there are no stickers giving the game away!
