Tapping/Ticking only when engine is warm
Any ideas? I thought it might be one tappet being out, but I have checked them (and double checked them) and they all seem to be fine in terms of clearance.
Could it be something like a cam spring? Clutching at straws here. The cars seems to go fine, but it just sounds ordinary (although, most people probably wouldn't take much notice).
When the engine is cold, it is silky smooth and dead quiet. It is only as the temp rises that this noise starts.
Ideas anyone?

Before I did my clutch, the springs used to vibrate. Usually when at idle (not in gear) and yes, when she's warm. They also used to vibrate a hell of a lot lounder when the air-con was on - puting more strain on the crank.
When I pulled the old clutch out, I shook the plate & there it was...
$700 f_cken rattle!

Did you ever find out what the ticking was? I have the same, mechanic said it was the quietest fto he's heard when cold, but when warm it ticks, sounds just like light tappets, but I've spent £210 getting them done 3 times since I've had it (2yrs) and each time there's no difference.
It's a GPX BTW manual adjust.
This is the one thing that really bugs me about this car, the other being a knock from the Ohlins shocks, but I've got used to that.

I'm using 10w40 Silkolene S pro fully synth. I had a can of 15w40 which I used over the summer, made a little difference, but not much. I was thinking that as the tappets are a bit of a pain (literaly) to do ppl may not be quite as pedantic with em as I might be. I'll be giving them a go in the sumer when I get my tappet tool sorted but I'll need some patience and I've not got much of that I'm afraid.
