Black smoke stain left on rear bumper

I've just noticed recently that the area on the bumper just above the exhaust tip has a greyish black stain.

Seems like the exhaust exit smoke has been staining it. I cant get rid of it at all. What does this say about my car? Is it running slightly rich?

You cannot see black smoke coming out of the exhaust at all. The black stain has slowly darkened over time.

is it the stock exhaust?

because if its not, then it could have just been a poorly fitted/planned exhaust that sits too close to the kit...

Its an aftermarket tip, but hangs out further than the stock tips.
