Help.....

Post by llsf1225 »

I start the car today and notice that the volt meter is below than 12, and also the battery light on the dashboard is lighted up a little bit. But when the RPM over 2, it will disappear. just want to know what's going on with it and I don't think it's the problem with the battery because I changed it not long ago. Thanks

It sounds like an alternator. Try measuring the voltage of the battery when the car is idling. It could be that your alternator is not charging the system enough in low revs.

Reconditioning of an Alternators is fairly common, I had to do it not so long ago.

Thats's all i got...

I just got mine done for 198 bucks but it depends what's wrong with it. I removed mine myself too which saved me a fair bit in labour costs, there is a guide in the DIY section if you want to have a go. There are some places that offer them on exhange for around 200 bucks try searching for Alternator.

hehehe... with alernator you wount get much

I got mine done for about 300 or something, but yeah it all depends what needs replacing, mine was overcharging the battery, so my battery voltage on idle would be like 14.8v...

But yeah again, get a proper auto electrician to look at, to c if it's actually the alternator. but i'm pretty sure it is, and no one else disagrees so far..
