99% sure your stepper Motor
99% sure your stepper Motor has failed. dead easy to fix.
option 1 tke the old one out a recondition it or 2 get a new one.

for a new one and the old one is located under the air intake hose. just losen the srew at the bottom end of th intake hose and pull away from the air box. Losen the srew at the top where it connects to the intake manifold and throttle body. the hose will then twist up. Just be carfull not to damage the small tube that comes off of it half way down.
you will now see the stepper. held in by 2/3 screws just undo amd the stepper will pull free. disconnet the plug from the ECU and refit the new stepper.

yeah i've sort of twisted up a long thin cloth and put it inside that little hole, and i found that there was a lot of black stuff when i pulled the cloth back out..... i mean A LOT.... kinda scary.... but i wasn't sure if it was meant to be there or if it's rubbish, so i didn't keep getting it out.....

I think this is happening to me! I just bought my car yesterday and now it won't start! It kicks over and then just dies. Does someone have a photo of where this part is exactly so I can clean it? I don't know a thing about this car yet so please explain it for me very slowly please. Thanks!
Is this 99.9% most likely my prob? Yesterday it was running fine when I bought it and I drove it for a few hours and started it a few different times. Then today this! Always my luck.
Does a clean fix it or does it need replacing?
Is there anyone around Balmain in Sydney that knows about this?
Thanks

car turning off
Hi, I had exactly the same problem. I gave my mechanic copies of the stuff I got from the forum, and he cleaned the steppa motor no problem, cost me $100. Before that it had been in 3 times, and everytime he thought he'd fixed it , it happened again! It took about a week to settle in and idle at the right revs, first couple of days I had to warm her up for only a minute or two.
Good luck!
