Tiptronic Mods

Post by Jase »

Sorry if this has been covered before but i was wondering if anyone had swapped the + - on their tiptronic. Apparently it's just a matter of cuttiing two wires and swapping them over. Thanks in advance.

yeah really easy to do... i did it years ago and it makes downchanging under heavy breaking really simple as the inertia pushes you forward

I did this last weekend and it was pretty easy. I still forget sometimes that I have changed it over though!

It's a more natural motion to shift downwards so if you need quick up shifts it "feels" quicker - and it was something to do :)

I have changed mine very easy and no problems to speak of, feels more natural to pull back under throttle to me. Look at some race cars such as champ cars and they have the same deal.

They just pop off with some friendly force but they don't fit back in without some minor mods, I used a hot knife and had to trim one back, can't remember which one though.

It was the negative that you need to trim to fit.

There is two little clips that hold the top button in on the sides use a knife or something to pop them out then undo the hidden bold and that's it.....I think?

its all to do with inertia .... ;)

as you accelerate you get pushed back into your chair... moving the stick backwards is easier to upshift

as you brake you get pushed forwards... pushing forwards is easier to downshift

This has always been my theory as well - its just a shame that all Mitsi's are around the wrong way

But every person is going to have a different opinion...

Mines all done. No probs other than screwing the white thing down to far and not being able to select gears. That and my ignition isn't too keen on letting my key go without a little jiggling. I'm guessing that has to do with the white thingy too. Other than that it's awesome. Just gotta get used to it.

Sorry a bit off the topic, but yeah apparently Mazda had just realized a 10 speakers Bose system package with MP3 for the SP23, I'm sure any Mazda 3 can be upgraded to that.
