Worth Waiting for a mivec engine or not?

Post by MossMoss »

Hi guys

I'm interested in buying an FTO and have been looking around on carsales and gumtree for the right car (mivec engine and less than 130k's). I've been constantly checking both websites for the past month or so and havent been able to find one but have however had this car (http://www.carsales.com.au/private/deta ... 1459/?Cr=0) there from the start. And was just wondering whether it's worth waiting for one with a mivec engine or not?

thanks :)

There is something not right there. For starters is not a GPX (as listed in the title), its a GX (as shown on the rear bar and based on the interior trim). Its not a 95 model either as GX's werent made until 97 at the earliest. And Symphonic silver (that colour) wasnt released until later either. The front bar looks to be a different colour from the rest of the car, so there has probably been some sort of respray done unless its an illusion. It also lookslike the RH lower drivers seat bolster is collapsing (common). I wouldnt expect this with a car with a genuine 80000KM on it, so would suspect the cluster has been changed.

Personally, based on the amount of misrepresentation, id be waiting for something else.

Yeah I noticed that too... wasn't sure if I was going crazy or not :(D):

Has GX interior trim.. so me thinks engine swapped GX!

If you can get the VIN we can check it.

Possibly a MAF sensor there but there is definitely a AFM there, so my money is on it being a stock non mivec 6a12.

Bobby had that trim, and was a GPX. It was the cloth trim in models above 97. To my knowledge it wasn't restricted to a variant... Just like the earlier GPX's didn't have a different trim to a GR...
I just had to add it ......

thanks for all the feedback everyone

i've messeged the owner asking for a vin and am now waiting for a reply but after reading mezje's post don't think its likely to happen.

But I'm still curious as to whether it's worth waiting/looking for an fto with a mivec engine or not?

This one has also recently popped up on carsales and was wondering if it's any better than the previous one I posted?

      thanks once again :)

That one looks well cared for and is tidy. Fairly expensive for a GR though (non mivec).

Anything over 5K would be excessive. And yes, that intake pipe will need replacing

what's wrong with the intake pipe is it just because it looks kinda stupid or is there something wrong with the actual pipe?

btw the guy with the other fto got back to me and gave me his VIN for the car (6T91NVV97S53E9001)

Its badly kinked. Would be severely restricting airflow.

That's the Australian VIN given to the car when it is brought into the country.

Ask him for the Japanese VIN, should be DE3A-XXXXXXX
