and which state ;)

installing is pretty easy (says he who has had one lying around for months)... tuning is the harder part

took me 30 mins to install my safc2.. the instructions are pretty good form the apexi-usa.com site. you can download them.

although the crimpy things that they supply look crap, they actually work really well, and no need for any solder for them.

on the topic though, i thought the vafc2 didnt support the mivec plugin that the vafc had?

This was the reason that I opted for the Safc2 as there would have been no use for the extra features like mivec control that the older vafc had.

so did i however i have been informed that it works the same as the vafc....

hmm interesting, I was under the impression that the 'mivec adapter' was incompatable with the vafc2.

The vafc2 works the same as a vafc, but if you try and use the mivec adapter from a vafc on a vafc2..its a no go.

so you guys mean to say that vafc2 is not worth it since it can not be use on mivec? i havent done any engine upgrade so i dont think i will be touching the mivec point is this what you are talking about?

i'd probably use it to alter fuel or things like that ... and you mention that tuning it is hard? why is that?

the reason i ask is that i can get one for 450$ used though

and looking at a frends dyno which is a stock tiptronic dc5 integra it gain about 6kws in some range

smorison its actually get pulled out of a dc5 so it wont have a mivec adapter i've ben searching the net for information but it sems like this unit was made morely for i-VTEC YO!!!!!

the mivec adapter is easy enough to get... and my discussions with Autospeed (who i've bought the mivec adapter from) are that the vafc2 will work with a MIVEC car.

i've got a vafc (1) sitting at home but the wiring harness is pretty shot on it so i was going to sell that and get a vafc (2) ... just waiting for the adapter to turn up before i make the decision (i.e. how hard it is going to be to mate the two together)...

so what you are saying is that you are waiting for autospeed to provide you one mivec adaptor and see if it works on our car?

when will you be getting this mivec adapter?

and how much is that?

i've ordered one hopefully i will have it today when i get home....
if its going to be too much piss farting around to mate it to the VAFC1 i have at home (doesn't have a full wiring loom) i'll buy a VAFC2 and see whether or not they'll play together... (unless you want to lend me that VAFC2 and then i can test it)

ended up putting in my VAFC1... it looks possible to do the VAFC2 there are some different wires but it should operate without them connected... i have english translations of the mivec adapter wiring diagram (its only in japanese) ... so if you do decide to go ahead and are comfortable with electrics i'll send them to you - i strongly recommend that if you are not proficient with a soldering iron and reading electrical diagrams that you get a professional to do it.

What kind of results did u get with the vafc?

It wouldn't cost very much for someones else to put it.

Do you need any dyno tuning with the vafc?

It takes a few hours to install... i'd probably do it for $150.00 for anyone who's interested... depending on how much work you do prior... (eg if i have to match up the vafc to the mivec adapter that takes another 1 1/2 hours)...

i haven't tuned mine yet... waiting until everything is in place before i tune it... you really need a dyno which is why i'm waiting to have the intake and cams complete don't feel like paying for dyno time twice (yes even i have to pay for dyno time at unique)

without the cams / tb / plenum i'd expect to see anything 6-8kW not sure how much extra i'll gain with the cams and other stuff... depends on whether or not i can bring in the high speed lobes earlier and increase torque earlier...

Hey steve is that at the fly or wheel??

Since you play with version 1 & 2, whats the "real" different you found between them? I just don't trust those marketing material Apexi print out......

always at the wheels...

biggest difference apart from appearance is that the VAFC2 has a larger tuning scale making it easier to ring the neck out of the engine....

if i get time over christmas i'm going to look at putting in a vafc2 and removing the vafc1... but not sure yet, doesn't look like i'm going to have much time
