hey dose anyone know what the best revs are for a tiptronic?
and is it faster than using Drive? also dose the rev rage alter with GPX and GR Fto's?

huh?

Do you mean will the car accelerate faster in tip mode than in auto mode or do you mean something else?

The rev-limiter on the MIVEC engines kick in at around 8,200rpm but from memory the GR's are slightly lower, perhaps someone with a GR could confirm this.

tip mode will give you more control as you can choose the point at which you change gears, but in terms of performance there will be no difference between tip mode and normal auto mode.

If you floor it in auto mode, it should go almost all the way to the redline before changing, just as you would do in tip mode anyway, if dragging someone off.

If racing on a circuit with corners and where you'll be both accelerating and braking, tip mode will give you greater control and will be a much better option.

In terms of rev-range, you want to try to keep it in the MIVEC range, so you want to change gears as late as possible so when it goes into the higher gear the revs don't drop below the MIVEC point.

Well u can't blow the engine as there is a rev limiter that won't let u rev past about 8500rpm, and reving the car to that limit wont damage your engine, i can vouch for that!!

But basically keep your car in good running condition and u should'nt have any probs enjoyin some mivec action!!

As with any car, the higher you rev it the more you'll wear it out. Having said that, the FTO was designed to rev that high and has certain protections in place, such as rev-limiters that prevent you from reving too high when the engine is still cold.

Rev-hard and enjoy the MIVEC range, that's what it's there for!

3000??? the stall converter only lets you go to 2500rpm...

if you have really grippy tyres you may be bogging down too much on launching... you don't want a huge amount of wheel spin as its doesn't convert into fast acceleration...

can you bog down an auto? considering the power is already present with the stall i find it would be a problem?

Bogging is more a problem with manuals, as the load on the engine isnt present because of the disengaged clutch.
